Virtual session done for the Lambda Moodle Users Community. Chad Leaman from Lambda did the last half of the presentation which was a live demo of how to import an ePub book into Moodle.

Wikimedia Australia undertakes outreach activities, develops resources and builds systems that empower and engage people to collect, share and promote free cultural works. Partnerships have included towns such as Fremantle, W.A. and organisations such as the Australian War Memorial. Dr Thomas Shafee gave an overview of Wikimedia Australia and outlined recent and forthcoming activities.

The African Virtual University is coordinating Phase II of the Multinational Project on Policy and Curriculum Conceptualization. The OCW Consortium was invited to participate as a strategic partner and to provide perspectives on OER globally to consider in the development of this project. This presentation discusses some examples of relevant OER projects in Indonesia and Brazil, and explores questions of extending access to higher education in African countries.

The view from Scotland: What can Germany learn from OER initiatives in the UK?Lorna Campbell
This presentation introduces a range of contrasting initiatives that have aimed to promote open education policy and practice in Scotland, England and Wales over the last five years. These include the UKOER Programme, Open Scotland, OER Wales, the Welsh Open Education Declaration of Intent, the Scottish Open Education Declaration and the Opening Educational Practice in Scotland project. The paper will reflect on the different approaches taken by these initiatives and ask what Germany can learn from the experiences of open education practitioners in the UK.

The innovation remit of the Wikimedia residency at the University of Edinburgh has been to raise awareness of Wikimedia and its sister projects, design and deliver digital skills engagement events such as editathons (groups of staff & student editors coming together to edit Wikipedia pages on a focused theme – both inside and outside the curriculum) and to work with colleagues all across the institution to find ways in which the University – as a knowledge creation organisation – can most benefit and contribute to the development of this huge open knowledge resource.
