This document discusses the use of open information systems and Web 2.0 technologies to improve learning. It provides an example of implementing various Web 2.0 tools in an educational technology course, including a wiki for publishing notes, a question and answer system, and blogs. The example found that students were highly active in helping each other through the question and answer system. It concludes that creating an open information system can improve learning dynamics by selecting tools that fit how learning occurs and motivating community participation.
Whether you are a designer, a developer, a marketer, a student or anything in between - in today's creative job market every differentiator will count towards getting the job. Gone are the days of being able to talk over your future employer's head, just showing the latest deliverable you are working on, even worse showing nothing at all. Welcome instead to a world where your work is being measured not by what you say it was, but by what it really was.
This workshop was developed for General Assembly in NYC. It is meant to be run in 90 minutes.
How did you attract/address your audiencelydia_lou
The document discusses the design choices for a magazine targeted towards a rock music audience. It describes using images of band members and rock instruments on the cover to attract that audience. It also discusses using a destroyed masthead design and the colors purple, blue, and black based on a survey of the target audience. Interior pages feature stereotypical rock images like head banging and close-up guitar playing. A double page spread uses a low camera angle shot with direct address and band members in rock-style clothing to engage the audience within the preferred color scheme.
This documentary analyzes the marketing of Meatloaf using a non-linear narrative structure. Interviews are framed on the left or right of the screen in close-ups and are spliced with relevant archival footage. A male narrator provides links between elements. Editing removes questions and uses dissolves between chromakey interviews. Archive material includes music videos, magazines, and TV performances to illustrate points about the power of media, career-building for artists, and manipulating the public to purchase albums.
The document describes a class trip to the grocery store to buy items. It includes three math word problems about the costs of Skittles packs, ice cream cones, and calculating change from a purchase totaling $28.72 paid with $40.
GWCC Library Staff - Topping Out CelebrationGatewayLibrary
The document discusses the tradition of topping out ceremonies when constructing buildings. It explains that topping out occurs when the last beam is placed at the top of a structure, signaling completion of the framing. A tree, flag, or leafy branch is typically placed on this final beam to celebrate the milestone. A toast is usually made and workers may receive a meal. The tradition stems from timber frame construction in Europe and was brought to the United States by immigrant craftsmen.
ELC/Library Black History Celebration 2011GatewayLibrary
The library is celebrating Black History Month in 2011 with an event. They thank visitors for attending and provide the name of the librarian, Martha Lipowski.
By carrying out audience feedback on advertisements for the documentary "Batteries Not Included", the creator learned that the ads effectively conveyed the intended themes and messaging. Feedback indicated the newspaper ad captured the feeling of a child distracted by technology through its imagery. Listeners of the radio ad understood the documentary's topic from the included interview clips and were engaged. Viewers of the documentary praised the creative opening titles, relevant music, and variety of interviewees. The audience research validated that the ads and documentary followed industry conventions well.
Love is risky and unpredictable. While it can bring great joy, it also leaves us vulnerable to heartbreak as relationships may not last or our feelings may not be reciprocated. However, for many people the highs of love are worth the potential lows and risks of getting hurt.

Resolving import errors is crucial for maintaining smooth software operation and uninterrupted development processes.
Assessment and Planning in Educational technology.pptxKavitha Krishnan
In an education system, it is understood that assessment is only for the students, but on the other hand, the Assessment of teachers is also an important aspect of the education system that ensures teachers are providing high-quality instruction to students. The assessment process can be used to provide feedback and support for professional development, to inform decisions about teacher retention or promotion, or to evaluate teacher effectiveness for accountability purposes.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

70. (My) wiki experience
✤ Writing very simple. Students got skill very easily
✤ Hard to learn about IP problems (how to cite, how to use external
resources...)
✤ Students does not look at others....classroom disposition replicated
✤ Classroom communications is between teacher and students. It is the
same in the wiki
71. (My) WebLog experience
✤ Hard to maintain.... (lack of perseverance)
✤ It is difficult to reuse for other course editions
✤ Good to spread news and alerts
✤ Better RSS feed then other sources
✤ Use the BLOG dokuwiki plugin
72. (My) social networks experience
✤ Generic social networks are apart of what happen in classroom.
(about learning, of course)
✤ Teacher = intruder
✤ Better to use specific social networks...
73. (My) Q&A experience
✤ Great success! students helps each other... they question and answer a
lot! (probably they are more accesible than the teacher)
✤ Needs some “community management” work (play, rewards, positive
feedback...)
✤ Big differences between students (some very actives...more
actives...much more watching and occassionally participate)
✤ The Q&A dynamic EXISTS between them previously.
75. Create an Open Information
System is easy, if you choose the
right way...
76. ✤ Try to find wich learning dynamics are stablished in your
classroom.
✤ Selecting the software tools for specific functions that fits
on the learning dynamics
✤ The good news: are tons of open software!
✤ Look specially for syndications features !!
✤ Use community manager skills to motivate them
✤ Aggregate them in a mash-up for discovering
77. Always look
on the Open Side of life....
....your students and others will
thanks you for it
