The OpenAIRE Guidelines provide recommendations for encoding bibliographic metadata to repository managers and encourage the adoption of standards like Dublin Core for literature repositories and DataCite for data repositories. OpenAIRE collects open access research outputs, their funding information and relationships, and metadata on research datasets in order to build a graph of information on open access and funded research through techniques like metadata normalization, linking publications to projects and datasets, and knowledge extraction services. The guidelines continue to be developed to establish an open and sustainable scholarly communication infrastructure through alignment with regional networks and uptake of controlled vocabularies.
