Lulu Ross created a pattern for a computer design class inspired by the evil eye symbol from her culture. She used muted colors instead of bright contrasting ones to see if it still conveyed strong energy. For another pattern, Lulu was inspired by a breathtaking building she saw in Balboa Park with perfectly constructed details. She incorporated structural hexagon shapes and creative column-inspired symbols with lines to represent the building's layers and capture its joyful and expressive qualities in the pattern. Lulu wanted her patterns to have an open perspective where the elements made sense together even if they did not directly correlate.
