Op Art emerged in the 1960s-1970s and uses optical effects to create the illusion of movement through the repetition and manipulation of color, shape, and line. Prominent Op Artists include Victor Vasarely, whose works Zѐbre (1944) and Mѐandres (1959) exemplify the style, Bridget Riley, known for Movement in Squares (1961) and Cataract 3 (1967), and Richard Anuskiewicz, whose pieces II (1972) and Translumina with Deep Blue (1987) demonstrate Op Art characteristics.
