The ORCA project aims to develop valid, reliable assessments for online reading comprehension, addressing the lack of existing evaluations. The project involves various stakeholders and follows a four-year timeline, testing multiple assessment formats through pilot and validation studies with seventh graders in Connecticut, Maine, and North Carolina. Key findings from initial practicality surveys highlight the importance of ease of scoring, relevance of information, and availability of technology in the successful implementation of online reading comprehension assessments.
