3. Placement Testing is about the placement test that colleges
and universities use to access college readiness and place
students into their initial classes. Since most tow years
colleges have open non-competitive admissions policies,
many students are admitted even through they do not have
college level academic qualifications. Test primarily assess
abilities in English, math and reading and in other
disciplines such as foreign languages, science, computer
internet and health.
According to John Willson “The Chief function of the
placement examination is prognosis .It is expected to yield
results which will enable the administrator to predict with
fair accuracy the character of work which a given individual
is likely to do . it should afford a reasonable base for

4. sectioning a class into homogeneous groups in a each
of which all individuals would be expected to make
somewhat the same progress. it should afford the
instructor a useful device for establishing academic
relations. With his class at the first meeting of the
group. It should indicate the student something of the
preparation he is assumed to have made for the work
upon which he is entering and introducing him to the
natural of material of the course.”

5. IELTS
IELTS the International English Language Testing System is designed to assess
the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is
used as the language of communication. IELTS is required for entry to university
in the UK and other countries. It was established in 1989 it is the worlds prove
English language Test. There are to versions of the IELTS
•Academic version
•General training version
Academic version is intended for those who want to enroll in universities and
other institutions of higher education and for professionals such as medical
doctors and nurses who want to study or practice in an English speaking country .
The General training version the general training version is intended for those
who planning to undertake non- academic training as to gain work experience or
for immigration purposes .
You can choose between the academic or general teaching versions of the test.
The test has four sections:
•Listening :4 sections,40 questions,30minutes
•Speaking: interview 15 minutes

Writing: different for academic and general training -2 pieces of writing,60 minutes.
TOEFL
The Test of English as a Foreign Language measures the ability of nonnative
speakers of English to use and understand North American English as it is spoken,
written and heard in college and university sittings. Most universities were
instruction is in English in addition, many government agencies , scholarships
programs and licensing –certification agencies use TOEFL scores to evaluate English
proficiency.
You can do the test on paper or on a computer depending where you live. The test
comes in two formats:
•Paper based test(PBT)
Next generation computer based test(iBT)
The iBT is not yet available at every test center.

7. TKT
The Teaching Knowledge Test or TKT is a professional
credential that focuses on core teaching concepts for teachers
of English as a foreign language.It should not be compared to
the CELT because it does not have a practical teaching
component and focuses more on the specialized language and
abstracted concepts of ELT then on the actual application of
ELT concepts in lesson preparation and delivery. TKT
assessment takes the form of a multiple choice test, made up
of three modules, which can be taken together, or separately in
any order.

8. NET
National Eligibility Test is the national level entrance
exam in India for post graduate candidates who
wished to qualify for admission in P.hD research and-
or university level teaching jobs in India. For the
humanities and art discipline it is administered by the
University Grants Commission, while for the science
and engineering discipline is jointly conducted by
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and
UGC.

9. SET (State Eligibility Test)
Any Indian National who obtained Master Degree
with at least 55 % marks is eligible for appearing SET
exam. Candidates are advised to appear in the subject
of their post graduation only .The candidates whose
post graduation subject is not covered in the list of
subject in item may appear in a related subject .

10. CONCLUSION
This placement test is design to give students and teachers of
English a quick way of assessing the approximate level of a
student’s knowledge of English grammar and skill. The test
should take around 45 minutes to complete. At the end of test,
the candidate will see the test results and be given a
percentage. He/she will also be able to follow a link to a page.
Before you redesign your site, make sure that you
understand the strengths and weaknesses of your
current design. Garner design ideas and alternatives by
studying your competitors. The focus of competitive tests
is not to crown a winner, but to gain deeper insight into
why design elements work or fail so we can make
informed decisions moving forward.
