This document discusses cost factors that influence the development and implementation of integrated spatial management information systems (ISMIS) in local governments. It identifies three main cost factors: 1) data-related costs including data collection, accuracy, and availability, 2) software-related costs depending on the licensing model (proprietary, open source, etc.), and 3) customization costs for tailoring software to an organization's specific needs. Understanding and managing these cost factors can help implementers develop more cost-effective ISMIS solutions for local governments.
