Daniel was a 16-year-old boy with dreams of graduating high school and attending college to study computer programming. He enjoyed racing bikes and working hard to qualify for the world cycling cup in Chile. Unfortunately, Daniel was shot and killed by a stray bullet in 1991 while on his way home from summer school. His mother Ruby later documented her personal grief process and made a documentary about Daniel's life to bring more awareness to the issue of urban violence. She states that exposure to gun violence is a major factor and that murder should be viewed as a socially infectious disease.
