Lumberjack: Finit's Oracle EPM - Hyperion System Monitoring Toolfinitsolutions
Actionable insight on how your Oracle EPM system is performing and how to fix it
As we all know, the back-end of our Oracle EPM systems have become more and more complex. Not only does it take longer to install, but it requires both Hyperion experience and IT involvement to properly monitor and support the environment. Finit's Infrastructure Group has been involved with some of the most complex Oracle EPM environments in the United States. As a result, we have developed our own in-house tools to assist clients with Performance Monitoring, System Tracking, System Logging, Crash Analysis, and Infrastructure Best Practices. Finit has refined these tools and has incorporated them into a packaged solution called Lumberjack.
Please join us on Friday July 20th to learn about Lumberjack. Frank Zidar, head of Finit Infrastructure, will be your host. In this webinar we will provide an overview of Lumberjack and discuss how several clients are leveraging the tool to monitor their Oracle EPM environment's efficiency / performance and triage degradation in performance, systems errors, and alerts. As a result of the use of Lumberjack, many organizations have gained better insight into how to keep their EPM environments healthy and keep end users happy!

OneStream is an extremely flexible platform and has really been making a name for itself in the CPM (Corporate Performance Management) market. In addition to everything that the software can do out-of-the-box, at Finit we can customize your application to meet a wide range of complex business requirements. The limits of OneStream's flexibility is based more on the boundaries of consultants' / administrators' imagination and rule building abilities than any real constraints which exist within OneStream itself. Inside OneStream XF there are a variety of modules where rules/calculations can reside and there is ample opportunity for configurations to extend your system's functionality. Types of rules which exist are:
Member Formulas
Business Rules
Transformation Rules
Confirmation Rules
Join us for an explanation of the fundamental principles around creating efficient process and business rules and scripts within OneStream as we focus on:
Minimizing processing time
Decreasing manual application maintenance

The FBI spent nearly $170 million on a project called the Virtual Case File (VCF) to modernize its IT systems and allow agents to better share information. However, the project was plagued by issues and ultimately abandoned. It suffered from poorly defined requirements, unrealistic deadlines, and frequent changes in management. As a result, the software developed was deemed unusable. The failure of VCF was a major setback for the FBI and cost taxpayers significant funds, leading to criticism of the bureau. It had to continue using its outdated previous systems and later embarked on a new project from scratch.

This document summarizes Hal Kinsey's internship projects at GSA from May to August 2016. It describes 9 priority projects including developing automation bots to pull customer reports and billing data from databases to save time. It also covers side projects interviewing employees and training teams on Skype. The conclusion reflects on lessons learned about work ethic and time management and provides suggestions such as improving collaboration and investing longer-term in the company.
As we all know, more and more organizations are starting to question “Do we or do we not implement Office 365?”. However, as these discussions are taking place; governance is rarely addressed or considered. The main reason is that the majority believe that once they have implemented governance that they are done; unless there is an update such as a server name change or an employee change (such as a departure or addition). During the initial planning around governance it is likely that there were discussions around auditing of the governance document and potential quarterly reviews to ensure that the document is up to date and still fits the business. However, it is common to forget that after that fact; even though it is documented “within the governance document”.
Governance becomes even more important with Office 365 just because its cloud based and ever changing with new and deprecated features on a pretty regular basis. This means all of the content, backup, recovery, etc. are all handled by Microsoft and you have virtually no control over it (Can you say MAJOR SLA impact?). In this session we will review the areas of concern and how they can be addressed within the governance document, the importance of reviewing the document frequently; and ways to make the information available to your internal SharePoint Community. In addition, we will review the features of Office 365 that will have a major impact on SharePoint and Office Apps. We will review each of these applications and the areas of importance that should be addressed in the governance document, as well as why each of them are important.
Extending Workforce Management Support to the Back Office VerizonDebra L Phillips
This document discusses extending workforce management support to back office functions through integrating other systems' data into workforce management systems. It outlines a 4 phase approach: 1) determining what can be counted from other systems and transforming that data, 2) combining historical and real-time data, 3) custom designing automated historical data integration, and 4) integrating real-time activity feeds. Examples provided include integrating order system task details and agent chat windows. The goal is to leverage existing data to improve workforce forecasting and scheduling for back office functions.

This report explores the significance of border towns and spaces for strengthening responses to young people on the move. In particular it explores the linkages of young people to local service centres with the aim of further developing service, protection, and support strategies for migrant children in border areas across the region. The report is based on a small-scale fieldwork study in the border towns of Chipata and Katete in Zambia conducted in July 2023. Border towns and spaces provide a rich source of information about issues related to the informal or irregular movement of young people across borders, including smuggling and trafficking. They can help build a picture of the nature and scope of the type of movement young migrants undertake and also the forms of protection available to them. Border towns and spaces also provide a lens through which we can better understand the vulnerabilities of young people on the move and, critically, the strategies they use to navigate challenges and access support.
The findings in this report highlight some of the key factors shaping the experiences and vulnerabilities of young people on the move – particularly their proximity to border spaces and how this affects the risks that they face. The report describes strategies that young people on the move employ to remain below the radar of visibility to state and non-state actors due to fear of arrest, detention, and deportation while also trying to keep themselves safe and access support in border towns. These strategies of (in)visibility provide a way to protect themselves yet at the same time also heighten some of the risks young people face as their vulnerabilities are not always recognised by those who could offer support.
In this report we show that the realities and challenges of life and migration in this region and in Zambia need to be better understood for support to be strengthened and tuned to meet the specific needs of young people on the move. This includes understanding the role of state and non-state stakeholders, the impact of laws and policies and, critically, the experiences of the young people themselves. We provide recommendations for immediate action, recommendations for programming to support young people on the move in the two towns that would reduce risk for young people in this area, and recommendations for longer term policy advocacy.
