Objective
• Finding lost objects : common problem for
visually impaired
• Technological solution
• Mobile application
Questionnaire
• Gets frustated 5 to 6 times a day
• Audio device better than vibration
• Mobile app better than separate device

TAG
TAG:
• Rfduino- Microcontroller with Bluetooth module
• Buzzer(95dB)
• Rechargeable battery(3V)
• Accelerometer
Tag functioning
• Any query from mobile app is received by
Bluetooth module and then sent to micro-
controller
• Microcontroller processes the query and
activates the buzzer accordingly
• Until the tag is searched for, it stays in the
standby mode
Mobile App
RFDUINO
• A finger-tip sized, Arduino compatible, wireless
enabled microcontroller
• The RFduino is similar to the Arduino UNO or DUE,
except the RFduino has more power than the UNO,
in addition has wireless smartphone connectivity
built-in
• Adding wireless to an Arduino requires an additional
wireless shield which adds size. The RFduino has
wireless built-in, so there is no need for an additional
wireless shield.
RFDUINO
• The RFduino has a Nordic 32 bit ARM Cortex-M0
processor. It still runs the same, simple Arduino code
the UNO runs also run on the RFduino.
• It has a wireless module incorporating Nordic’s
nRF51822 SoC.
Rfduino is an open source!
Tag design
 Each tag contains an Rfduino
 Costs Rs.1200
 Contains unnecessary features
 PCB design of our own Rfduino with required
features
 Phase1: implementation on breadboard (using DIP ICs)
 Components:
 Atmega168
 16MHz Crystal
 RF Module
 Basic circuitry elements

Lockable Tags
• Contains accelerometer
• When the tag is locked, any movement detected in
the accelerometer is sent to buzzer via
microcontroller

Future Scope
• Lockable Tags
• Reducing the cost of the tag
• Tag shape:
 We are trying to design the shape of the tag such that it can
be attached to different devices
• Testing the app:
 We will get feedback from users and try to make our device
more user friendly
FINAL DEMO
• Demonstration with tags based on RFDUINO
modules.
• Design of low cost tag on a PCB board
Thank you
