What?<br />Optional Activity Points (OAPs) are extra points that you can earn in the class to help your grade<br />They are optional because the work that you do to earn them is not required in the class<br />For every hour that you put into this optional activity and can show proof of completion, you will earn 5 OAPs<br />At the end of the semester if you have 50 OAPs, you can place 10 points into any one category (exceptions: cannot be used to replace missed points for any of the 3 practice tests, the resume/vita assignment, or quiz points.)<br />At the end of the semester if you have 100 OAPs, you can place 20 points into any one category (exceptions: cannot be used to replace missed points for any of the 3 practice tests, the resume/vita assignment, or quiz points.)<br />How?<br />Sign up to take the GRE and show proof (printout of confirmation), you automatically earn 25 OAPs<br />You can sign up to take the GRE at anytime throughout the year and you can sign up in advance in order to receive OAPs<br />Spend an hour studying GRE material that is not required in this class<br />On your course CD, there is a folder labeled “Helpful GRE information.” In the folder you will find helpful information that you can read and take notes on<br />You can look up other GRE related books and take notes on the book<br />You can take PowerPrep Test 2 or 3 (there are three tests on your CD) and bring in your scores<br />You can take another GRE practice test and show the answers<br />You can spend another hour looking up Graduate School information and take notes<br />Sign up to take a BACC appointment and take notes during the appointment<br />Email professors or professionals in your field of interest and bring in the emails as proof<br />Attend presentations that are relevant to the class (get instructors okay first) and bring in notes <br />Work on graduate school applications and bring in the applications<br />Sign up for honor societies (ex. Psi Chi) and bring in the applications<br />Work on your personal statements and bring them into class<br />Work on writing any essays that are required for your graduate school applications<br />Etc…<br />Notes: <br />You may have noticed that a lot of the suggests above can also be used to complete your grad school hour and therefore if you use them to complete the grad hour requirement you cannot get OAPs for them<br />You can use these suggestions as the extra hour that you need to complete with make-up work and if this is the case, you will not get OAPs for the task<br />If you think something that you are doing extra should earn you OAPs, ask the instructor<br />
