The NSSF offers six types of benefits: 1) Age Benefit, 2) Withdrawal Benefit, 3) Exempted Employment Benefit, 4) Emigration Grant, 5) Survivors Benefit, and 6) Invalidity Benefit. The largest percentage of amounts paid were for Age Benefits (29%) and Withdrawal Benefits (26%). The highest number of individuals paid were for Age Benefits (863) and Exempted Employment Benefits (576). The average time taken to process benefits claims was lowest in January (10 days) and highest in March (24 days).

The majority of payouts were for age benefits (40%) and withdrawal benefits (22%). Survivors benefits made up 5% of payouts while invalidity benefits were 6%. A total of 3,526 beneficiaries received payments across the different benefit types. The average time to process benefit claims decreased over the quarter from 36 days in July to 21 days in September.

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) today secured a license to continue operations as a Retirement Benefits Scheme, in accordance with the Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority Act of 2011.
Managing Director Richard Byarugaba received the license from the Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority (URBRA) Board of Directors Chairman, Andrew Kasirye at URBRA offices in Kampala.
PRESS STATEMENT: NSSF's Response To Press Reports on IGG Investigation
The Fund received information relating to a report submitted by an anonymous individual to the Inspector General of Government (IGG), containing a number of unsubstantiated allegations.
The Fund is open to any investigation by the IGG. We will provide the required information to enable the IGG carry out investigations.
We commit, in line with transparency and accountability, to cooperate with the IGG to conclusively investigate the allegations.
Nevertheless, we wish to clarify that these allegations are absolutely false and are intended to tarnish the reputation of the Fund.

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) will hold its first ever Annual Members’ Meeting on March 19th, 2013. Over 1,000 members are expected to attend the meeting to receive updates on the Fund's financial standing, investments, and future plans. The Auditor General will present the Fund's audited accounts for 2011-2012, which show growth in monthly contributions, member balances, interest income, and benefits paid out, as well as an improved cost to income ratio. The Managing Director stated that the Fund's strong financial performance allowed it to pay a 10% interest rate on members' balances in the last financial year.

NSSF Wins Supreme Court Appeal Against Alcon International
The Supreme Court of Uganda ruled in favor of NSSF in their 14-year legal case against Alcon International. The Supreme Court found that Alcon Uganda was never a party to the original construction contract and therefore had no legal basis to claim the $8.8 million arbitration award against NSSF. This ruling saves NSSF an estimated UGX60 billion in damages, interest, and legal costs. The case has been referred back to the High Court for further proceedings.

population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
