• Nova responsible for coordinating the activities necessary to achieve
Trial Objectives, gathering data from UTM providers, RPAS Operators,
and coordinating flights and profiles to achieve those outcomes.
• Trial approval from CASA predicated on Nova maintaining a safe
airspace & ground risk environment.
• This means we will examine the competency of operator in enacting key
contingencies (more later from Guy and Kristian)
• Trial Safety Team will maintain environment by providing safety related
directions to operators and UTM
• Schedule is King: Safety is God. Guy has the GOD STAMP

What: Concept of Operations
Utilise RPAS to examine Emergency Situations including:
• Critical infrastructure inspections
• Broad-scale regional surveillance of extent of damage (to live stream
into emergency HQ)
• Large area geographical surveys (slippage/erosion, etc)
• Critical component delivery (intended).

What: Trial Objectives
• TO1: Perform flight testing to demonstrate the effectiveness of single and
multiple RPAS BVLOS operations in support of disaster and emergency service
operations through simulated operational scenarios utilising the Telstra LTE
network for distribution of a variety of payloads, and control of RPA.
• TO2: Perform flight testing to assess the effectiveness of UTM systems in
supporting BVLOS operations of single and multiple RPA during simulated
operational scenarios utilising the Telstra LTE network.
• TO3: Trial a framework for safe BVLOS trial management to support CASA safety
regulations.
• TO4: Identify relevant Technical, Operational, and Safety considerations across
Critical Infrastructure Inspection, Broad Area Surveillance, Search and Rescue, and
Medical and Emergency Delivery CONOPS to achieve TO1 through TO3.

that speed, which was measured in many days. The U.S. Postal Service—growing partly out of the Pony Express
and having it be even more reliable and starting to shorten the time—really did change society again.
In mid August 2014, Google Project Wing delivered packages including chocolate
bars, dog treats and Cattle vaccines to farmer in Darling Downs, QLD
DHL also trialling drone deliveries in remote areas where existing infrastructure
makes shipping difficult (Nth Sea island: Juist).

• Operations up to 1500ft AMSL,
• Command and Control of drones over LTE,
• Payload data distribution over LTE, and
• Exercising a new approach to BVLOS Safety Case approval process
modelling a ‘Range Safety’ approach.

BVLOS Trials Mass Brief • Nova responsible for coordinating the activities necessary to achieve Trial Objectives, gathering data from UTM providers, RPAS Operators, and coordinating flights and profiles to achieve those outcomes. • Trial approval from CASA predicated on Nova maintaining a safe airspace & ground risk environment. • This means we will examine the competency of operator in enacting key contingencies (more later from Guy and Kristian) • Trial Safety Team will maintain environment by providing safety related directions to operators and UTM • Schedule is King: Safety is God. BVLOS Trials Mass Brief What: Concept of Operations Utilise RPAS to examine Emergency Situations including: • Critical infrastructure inspections • Broad-scale regional surveillance of extent of damage (to live stream into emergency HQ) • Large area geographical surveys (slippage/erosion, etc) • Critical component delivery (intended).

BVLOS Trials Mass Brief What: Trial Objectives • TO1: Perform flight testing to demonstrate the effectiveness of single and multiple RPAS BVLOS operations in support of disaster and emergency service operations through simulated operational scenarios utilising the Telstra LTE network for distribution of a variety of payloads, and control of RPA. • TO2: Perform flight testing to assess the effectiveness of UTM systems in supporting BVLOS operations of single and multiple RPA during simulated operational scenarios utilising the Telstra LTE network. • TO3: Trial a framework for safe BVLOS trial management to support CASA safety regulations. • TO4: Identify relevant Technical, Operational, and Safety considerations across Critical Infrastructure Inspection, Broad Area Surveillance, Search and Rescue, and Medical and Emergency Delivery CONOPS to achieve TO1 through TO3.
