1. Note on
Magh 3G stoves
The Magh 3G stove is a low-cost stove: it is made using local human skills; reuse sheet metal is used
in production; because of low weight the transportation costs are low. In this stove there is flexibility of
using different types of fuels: Sticks, wood, leaves, litter, corn cobs, seeds, pellets, briquettes, saw dust,
wood shavings, charcoal, cow dung cakes, etc. The stove can be used with equal convenience – just like
the traditional stoves.
This stove functions well in the open area too, because of the air holes (primary, side and secondary)
created in the design of the stove. The women have got freedom to use it as per their convenience i.e.,
they need not sit in the kitchen, usually a semi-ventilated space or closed kitchen which is dark. The
communication of the women while cooking has improved, as they can sit outside their kitchen and
cook. The exposure of women to the very little smoke released during cooking is almost negligible. This
stove also saves about 30% to 40% of fuel as compared to traditional stoves. These advantages makes it
most adoptable and flexible stove ever made available or known to them.
