This document outlines a course for new and current coaches at WOU Football to learn the filming process. The course will introduce participants to filming equipment, terminology, and the process over 5 weeks through online lectures, videos, and assignments submitted on Moodle and HUDL. Students will learn to properly film games, upload and intercut footage on HUDL, tag plays, and troubleshoot common issues. Assignments are pass/fail and must be satisfactorily completed to pass the course and begin filming responsibilities for WOU Football.

Course Description:
New employees and coaches often lack general familiarity with filming process at WOU, and
current coaches often lack the time and resources to effectively teach it. The WOU Football
Film Course will introduce new filmers and coaches to the terms, equipment, process, and
football terminology necessary to be a successful filmer. Students will build a solid foundation
of knowledge and skill prior to the start of filming responsibilities.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this courseyou should be able to

Format:
This course will begin approximately five weeks before the start of Fall training camp or Spring
practice, and will take place on-line with no in person meetings until the filmers start date. The
course will require the use of a computer and internet. Course content will include a variety of
multi-media including but not limited to video (a lot of video), podcasts, online lectures, and
interactive group projects.
All weekly assignments will be due on Sunday at midnight unless noted otherwise. Late work
will be accepted, but please plan to communicate if an assignment will not be turned in on
time. All assignments must be completed satisfactorily to complete the course, and begin your
work with WOU football. All assignments will be submitted through Moodle and HUDL.
Course Materials
No textbooks or purchased material will be required for this course. Students must have access
to computer and internet capable of downloading, editing, and viewing video files. If this is not
possible arrangements must be made prior to the start of the course.

2. Expectations:
Participants will be expected to check Moodle at least several times per week, and actively
participate in all class activities and discussions. It is also important all students submit original
work. Students are encouraged to watch football on their own time, and apply concepts from
this course to their own football viewing.
Instructors will be expected to check email and messages on a regular basis, answering any
questions within 48 hours of receiving them. Instructors will reply with confirmation upon
receiving email or messages. Submitted assignments will be graded and returned with
comments 1 week after submission.
Grades
Because this course will not count for school credit, all assignments will be graded pass-fail. To
pass the course each student must receive a passing grade on all assignments.
To receive passing grade all criteria must be met as outlined for each
assignment rubric.
