3.  The spinal forms the central axis of the
skeleton, supports the skull, and gives
attachment to the thoracic cage, pectoral
girdle, and upper limb.
 It combines strength with great flexibility as it
has many joints close together.

4.  The spinal, or backbone, is a bony structure
that supports body.
 It connects different parts of musculoskeletal
system, which includes body's bones and
muscles.

5.  The spinal column is numbered and divided
into 5 regions: cervical, thoracic, lumbar,
sacrum, and coccyx.
 The spinal column are the 33 individual bones
that interlock with each other to form the
spinal column.

6.  The movements in the spinal column are
 Flexion
 Extension
 Rotation &
 Lateral flexion

7.  Spinal flexion is necessary for everyday
movements. During activities, it allows for an
even distribution of forces along the spine .
 It prevents stiffness or rigidity in the spine.

8.  Extension is the returned movement from
flexion . This movement occurs most freely in
the cervical and lumber regions.
 Particularly at the Lumbosacral Junction. In
the thoracic region hyper extension
is limited by the overlapping of
the specious processes.

9.  Movement of a body part to the side is called
lateral flexion . This type of movement is
associated with the neck and spine.
 Spinal rotation was defined the angle between
the longitudinal axis of the vertebrae.

11.  The thorax is the region of the body formed
by the sternum, the thoracic vertebrae, and
the ribs.

12.  The primary motion of ribs occurs during
inspiration and expiration.
 During inspiration, the anteroposterior
diameter of the thorax is increased when the
ribs are raised.

13.  The vertebrosternal ribs also follow a pump
handle motion, which raises sternum and
increases the anterior-posterior dimensions of
the thorax.
