This document discusses a job readiness skills training program in New Jersey public libraries. It received a $5.1 million federal grant to provide resources like 938 new computers, faster internet access, online job resources, and job training classes for 12,800 residents across 365 libraries. The program goal is to help 445,000 job seekers by offering online and in-person training on skills like computer use, resume writing, and internet job searching to address high unemployment rates in New Jersey during the economic downturn of the late 2000s. Over 2700 students have participated in 800 library-hosted classes through partnerships with community colleges so far.
