The Kiel Public Library director gave a presentation to the Kiel City Council highlighting the library's accomplishments and statistics. She discussed popular programs the library offered, usage statistics that had grown in recent years, and the results of a needs assessment that found the library's building no longer meets the community's needs. The needs assessment recommends expanding the library to nearly 20,000 square feet to accommodate more materials, computers, seating and meeting space. The director is asking the council and public for support to renovate and expand the library.

ESL Literacy American Dream Grant Results

Barb Hauck-Mah, Director of Lodi Memorial Library, took a delegation trip to China from September 23 to October 3, 2011 to tour public and university libraries. She met with librarians from the Beijing Normal University Library and National Library of China in Beijing, and the Guizhou Provincial Library and Guiyang Medical University Library in Guiyang. Key learnings included the growth of ebooks in China, the lack of school libraries and programming in public libraries, limited technology updates due to funding, and mandatory retirement ages of 55 for women and 60 for men. Computer literacy for ESL students

to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and

and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
