The National Immunization Program was launched in July 1976 by the Department of Health in collaboration with WHO and UNICEF. Its primary goal is to decrease morbidity and mortality in infants and children caused by seven childhood diseases through a specific vaccination schedule. Vaccines include BCG, Hepatitis B at birth, multiple doses of OPV, Penta, and measles vaccines at designated ages.
