Summer 2014
Mr. Moore’s Blog
! Parents, we are embarking on the finish of another successful school
year. I count it a joy and a privilege to serve your children this school year.
As we count down the days, I can’t help but reminisce about all the things our
students and staff have accomplished this year. From the hours of rigorous
instruction that teachers have provided to parents and staff participating in
clubs and special events, our community has come together
to create opportunities so that all students can enjoy the
elementary experience.
Things to look for next year:
STEM Lab experiences
After school clubs
After school tutoring
A plethora of PTA events (e.g. movie nights, dances,
Isenberg Idol, Fall Festival, etc.)
Family curriculum and reading nights
Implementation of a new school uniform policy
Get a Jump Start on the 2014-15 School Year

“Students must develop relationships with reading peers
and use online, print, and other resources to inform their
book choices, or they will not develop the confidence and
capacity they need to self-select books successfully.” --

2nd Annual Give Five – Read Five Campaign
Local schools participated in the stateʼs effort to help prevent
“summer reading loss” by soliciting new and used books from
area businesses, churches and individuals. Each student in
the school received books due to this effort. Thanks so much
to all who contributed!

Isenberg. Fifth graders are eligible to
join this service club based on teacher
recommendation and through an
application process. Most recently, the

minutes everyday at home and by signing the log.
The students who participated in this Reading

  • 1. The Gator Gazette 1 Karen Puckett -- Editor Summer 2014 Mr. Moore’s Blog ! Parents, we are embarking on the finish of another successful school year. I count it a joy and a privilege to serve your children this school year. As we count down the days, I can’t help but reminisce about all the things our students and staff have accomplished this year. From the hours of rigorous instruction that teachers have provided to parents and staff participating in clubs and special events, our community has come together to create opportunities so that all students can enjoy the elementary experience. Things to look for next year: STEM Lab experiences After school clubs After school tutoring A plethora of PTA events (e.g. movie nights, dances, Isenberg Idol, Fall Festival, etc.) Family curriculum and reading nights Implementation of a new school uniform policy Get a Jump Start on the 2014-15 School Year Free Back to School items!!! School supplies, backpacks and more! Free hair cuts for boys by a professional barber! Donated by Direct Auto Insurance and other area businesses! Isenberg families are invited to the “Back to School” event, August 16, 9:30am-12:30pm at Direct Auto Insurance -- 1951 Jake Alexander Blvd W. Area businesses and individuals are encouraged to bring donated school supplies or make financial contributions to this event. Call Crystal at 704-704-639-0083 if you would like to donate. Stay Connected to your Friends by Reading this Summer! (See page 6) “Students must develop relationships with reading peers and use online, print, and other resources to inform their book choices, or they will not develop the confidence and capacity they need to self-select books successfully.” -- Donalyn Miller, Reading in the Wild: The Book Whisperer’s Keys to Cultivating Lifelong Reading HabitsIsenberg’s Read-a-Palooza during Children’s Book Week was a great success!
