2. North Somerset Times
This news story follows the Inverted
Pyramid Model as the structure of the
way it has been written has started
with the most important by informing
the readers where the situation is
happening, who is causing the problem
and when it is going to happen. Once
this has been stated the main
information is then given like the
quotes from the people involved and
what is going to happen to resolve the
problem with the developers. The rest
of the information has then been stated
at the end. This is done so that readers
are able to skim the news story and
only read half way and understand the
main plot of the story and what it is
about.
3. The Portsmouth News
This news story in the
Portsmouth News is slightly
different as it is shorter than an
average news story. Therefore
the Inverted Pyramid Model
isn’t used as much due to
readers not having to skim the
text due to it only being 2
paragraphs long. Therefore the
start of the news story
summarises the title of the
article and then where the event
was held. The remaining
information is just explaining
what happened.
4. The Bath Chronicle
I have noticed that in the majority of news
stories the first sentence will usually
summarise the title of the article. This news
story follows the Inverted Pyramid Model as
the 5 w’s have been mentioned which
makes sure all of the important information
is mentioned in the news stories. For
example the where is Bath and North East
Somerset and what is that businesses in
that area have got top prizes for being good
entrepreneurs. There fore the Inverted
Pyramid proves to work for journalists
writing news stories as they have stuck with
using it when writing their news stories.
