Cerplex Presents One-Stop Service Solution to Cisco Systems,
Awarded Repair and Logistics Contract on Cisco 2500 Series Routers
TUSTIN, CA -- Aprilll, 1996 -- The Cerplex Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:CPLX), specializing in service outsourcing for
the high technology industry, announced today it has recently entered into a contract with Cisco Systems, Inc. a
global supplier ofinternetworking solutions, to provide complete repair and logistics services on Cisco's 2500
Series routers.
Cerplex will maintain the router repair and distribution capability for Cisco at Cerplex's Livermore, CA facility.
The one-year contract is estimated at $1 million annually and calls for Cerplex to handle the RMA repair and
distribution processing on Cisco Series 2501-2516 routers.
Cerplex was able to accommodate Cisco's need to appoint one strategic partner to handle repair services on the
router line. "We were looking for a partner that could help simplify our repair time turnaround," said Jeff Johnson,
Repair Depot Program Manager for Cisco. "Cerplex presented a qualified one-stop service solution that is easier to
manage than multiple service vendors at various facilities."
"Industry leaders realize that outsourcing is a valuable resource in today's fiercely competitive marketplace," said
James T. Schraith, president and chief executive officer of Cerplex. "Since technical products now have shorter
lifecycles, our customers look to us for solutions on how to manage products after launch. Cerplex provides
expertise in areas ranging from repair and remarketing, parts service, logistics, and knowledge-based support
services."
Cerplex's expertise in repair services offers flexibility that easily adapts to Cisco's significant growth in router sales.
Cerplex anticipates that the increase in router repair volume will lead to the company providing additional technical
services across other Cisco products.
The Cisco 2500 Series routers include the 2501-2504 single LAN/dual WAN routers, the 25021 and 25041 ISDN
routers, 2513-25 I5 dual LAN/dual serial routers, and 2505,2507 and 2516 Ethernet routers. Cisco's series of
routers offer flexibility, performance, reliability and cost-efficiency for small and remote office sites.
