Hello sister,
I want you to know I will not forget you.
You might be celebrating the fact that I am going to college in Los Angeles
California, which is far away, to the point where you most likely are going to
try to take my room as your own. Before you plan anything I want you to know
that I took my candy stash with me so don’t be getting ideas. I also know you
might worry that I will some how get into another dare to go on a three week
vaca in some far off country...it won’t happen...this time. Bye!
Sincerely best sister of the year, Ruth.

Today was my first day in Los Angeles! I decided to tour around the campus
and into the actual city. The collage I am going to is the University of California,
but you already knew that didn't you? The location of the building with the
dorms are surrounded by other campus buildings, which are near by and will
be efficient to get to certain classes without having to rush. The campus is also
near a parking structure, though having a car would prove to be only hectic
from the lack of parking space and the expensive gas prices so I choose to
bike instead. Other than that the campus is surrounded by suburban houses.

On my way here I was thinking about renting a apartment with a friend while I
am here, but the cost and transportation fees seem larger and more
problematic than just staying in a dorm. Another benefit to living in a dorm is
that you get free wifi, which can get to be really expensive. I was assigned two
other roommates and they both seem like decent people, though I just met
them. One of the disadvantages of living in a dorm include lack of space, but
we somehow make due.

I was walking around the campus the other day and noticed a few things that
made me think about Urban Sprawl. Like the enormous amount of parking on
campus, and it gets crowded and expensive to the point where you have the
option to reserve a parking space. I rode my bike to the edge of campus and
noticed the large amount of suburbs that continue outwards, the differences
between college campus and houses got harder to distinguish.

As I made my way exploring the next day a little further away from the dorms,
I noticed that even though the area near the college is very new and up to
date, there are places with construction or renovation. Most construction has
to with adding residential areas, so more people could live here. This also
could lead to a larger population in the city, which means it will be more
expensive to live here, and to even in my case go to school here.

I have been thinking about my future lately, and I need a job to buy simple
things like snacks, and printer paper for projects. When choosing the job, I
wanted it to be close to campus, and my dorm building so I narrowed it down
to life saver or librarian. Science being a librarian requires less requirements
and is more of a walking distance to my dorm. It was the biomedical library
and all you have to do is give guests a guest key and check in books.
