Arunachal Pradesh is a mountainous state located in northeastern India. It is surrounded by Bhutan, Myanmar, Nagaland, and Assam. The capital is Itanagar. Tribal communities consider forests and biodiversity as inseparable and essential for providing ecosystem goods and services. Arunachal Pradesh has over 5000 plant species, many of which are endemic. It has the second highest forest coverage in India, though this has decreased in recent years. The staple foods include rice, fish, meat and vegetables cooked with little spice and using herbs and bamboo shoots. The state has cultural diversity, with different tribes following their own traditions, including Buddhism and animism.
