Saudi Arabia exported 1.84 billion barrels of oil in the first eight months of 2014, generating $199.17 billion in revenues. Domestic consumption accounted for 23% of total output. Global oil supplies remain abundant while demand is weak, exerting downward pressure on prices. The Barzan Gas Project in Qatar is over 95% complete, with Train 1 expected to begin production in early 2015. When fully operational, the project will produce 1.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. The project maintains excellent safety performance and aims to minimize environmental impacts.

The document provides an overview of the Qatargas II project to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar to the United Kingdom. Key points include that Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil signed an agreement in 2002 to supply two LNG trains to the UK using Qatar's large natural gas reserves and new cost-effective technologies. The project will use large 7-8 MTA LNG trains and 200,000 cubic meter LNG carriers to gain economies of scale and access new markets competitively.
The document discusses building a spend analysis program to analyze an organization's expenditures. It defines spend analysis and why organizations perform it. Key activities in building a program include collecting and normalizing data from various sources, analyzing spending patterns, and identifying opportunities. Challenges include overcoming organizational barriers, issues with inconsistent and incomplete data, and developing repeatable processes. Lessons learned emphasize securing support, planning adequately, starting small and achieving early wins to demonstrate value.
The document discusses building internal customer relationships in supply management. It provides biographies of speakers from a consulting firm and an electronics company. It then discusses elements of a successful supply chain process including establishing essential customer relationships. It outlines six keys to building internal customer relationships, such as determining major customers, developing relationship tools, assigning the right people, making it easy to order products, meeting regularly with customers, and advertising the value of procurement programs.
Quality Assurance & Post Award Performance Measurementmubarak2009
The document discusses quality assurance and performance measurement for government contracts. It emphasizes the importance of defining clear performance measures that are aligned with contract objectives. A quality assurance surveillance plan should identify how performance will be monitored and evaluated. Lessons learned include incorporating quality metrics throughout the acquisition process and using frameworks to guide performance measurement. Automating performance management systems can help standardize oversight.
The document discusses business process outsourcing (BPO) in China. It provides an overview of the BPO industry and examines both the current state and future potential of BPO in China. It notes that while China has mainly low-end, low-value BPO services currently, the country is positioning itself to become a major player in the global BPO market through improved infrastructure, policies, and developing its vendor base and industry expertise. The document also presents a case study of one company's BPO services in China.
Achieving Excellence in End-to-End Supply Managementmubarak2009
The document discusses challenges in supply chain management for service organizations. It notes a lack of integrated processes, tools, and information across supply chains. The presentation argues that effective contract management, using standardized templates and automation, can help address these issues and drive efficiencies across sourcing, procurement, and supplier management.
This document discusses risk analysis in oil and gas projects in the Middle East. It identifies the main risks as market risk, technical risk, and institutional risk. It analyzes two case studies of major gas projects in Qatar and Iran. The Qatar projects had technological risk specific to each project that was highly controllable. The Iranian projects had more domestic participation required and involved splitting work among multiple contractors to mitigate risk. The document recommends mitigating risk through proper project shaping and design as well as selecting the best contractors.

In a tight labour market, job-seekers gain bargaining power and leverage it into greater job quality—at least, that’s the conventional wisdom.
Michael, LMIC Economist, presented findings that reveal a weakened relationship between labour market tightness and job quality indicators following the pandemic. Labour market tightness coincided with growth in real wages for only a portion of workers: those in low-wage jobs requiring little education. Several factors—including labour market composition, worker and employer behaviour, and labour market practices—have contributed to the absence of worker benefits. These will be investigated further in future work.
