This document summarizes a study on the information literacy experiences of new barristers during their transition from legal education to professional practice. Through interviews with 9 new barristers, the study found that their IL needs at work differ from university, with challenges including legal research and developing professional skills. Participants reported mediating these difficulties through training, collaboration with supervisors and colleagues, and learning from others' experiences. The study concludes that social learning plays a key role in new barristers' IL development, and has implications for legal educators and workplace trainers to better support transitions.
