Last March, the American College of Cardiology (ACC) installed Mary Norine
Walsh, MD, FACC as its new president at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
held during the organization’s yearly Scientific Session. A 25-year member
of the ACC, Dr. Walsh is based in Indianapolis and serves at St. Vincent
Heart Center as director of the hospital’s heart failure, cardiac
transplantation, and nuclear cardiology areas.
In accepting the position, Dr. Walsh stated that her primary goal as president
is to enable ACC members to find their way through the rapidly changing
health care landscape. Specifically, she wants to oversee the transition from
a system that focuses on volume of care to one that puts a strong emphasis
on the value of care.
