An alumnus of the University of Arizona School of Medicine, Dr. Rajan Bhatt leverages more than a decade of medical and leadership experience to guide Spectrum Dermatology, Spectrum Plastic Surgery, and the Valley Surgery Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. In his executive capacity at Spectrum Dermatology, Dr. Rajan Bhatt founded the center in 2012 to provide treatments for a range of skin conditions such as brown spots. Board-certified dermatologists at Spectrum Dermatology take great pleasure in accurately diagnosing a wide range of skin disorders and recommending a treatment plan for each patient. "Brown spots" is one of the most prevalent conditions encountered at Spectrum Dermatology. Brown spots, also known as seborrheic keratosis (SK), are benign lesions, hyperpigmentation, or aging spots that are normally harmless. They can appear in a number of forms, including velvety, glossy, or wart-like textures that thicken relatively to the surrounding skin. They may also grow in size and appear darker over time. Seborrheic keratosis has no exact cause, but some family members are more susceptible to brown spots, suggesting a genetic factor. Also, many seniors develop brown spots as signs of aging. Spending a lot of time in the sun can also contribute to the development of seborrheic keratosis. Regardless of the cause, these abnormal growths are noncancerous. However, in a few cases, seborrheic keratosis may be warning signs of cancer, particularly when multiple brown spots appear suddenly. It's ideal to see a healthcare provider if this happens.
