Intro to NETS for Students Grade Level 3-5 Looking Further into Student Performance Indicators By: Carly Perrin
3. Engage in learning activities with learners from multiple cultures through e-mail and other electronic means. (2, 6) I think it would be a great idea for students to learn about students from multiple cultures through Skpye. The class could connect with another class through using Skype and everyone in the class could pick one person from the other class to interact with. Another way to interact with learners from other cultures would be e-mail pen pals.
7. Demonstrate the safe and cooperative use of technology. (5) Begin the lesson by showing a PowerPoint on safe and cooperative web use. Students could do a report on cyber-bullying and visit pre-approved websites to gather information. They could take the test to see if they, themselves were a cyber-bully or not and write reflections on the outcome.
5. Find and evaluate information related to a current or historical person or event using digital resources. (3) Students could use electronic databases to research a significant African American during African American history month. After gathering information they would write a research paper about the person and cite their resources The paper would need to include text as well as photographs
1. Illustrate and communicate original ideas and stories using digital tools and media-rich resources. (1, 2) Students will work in a group to write a story. After they write the story they will take picture of themselves acting out the story. The students will make a digital story book by combining their story with the pictures they took of each scene.
