Netiquette
1. Netiquette List
Ownership: If someone owns a picture, document, etc,
and you use it, make sure to give credit to the original
owner.
Security: Do NOT share personal passwords with
anyone no matter how much you trust a person. And
don’t try to get other people’s passwords either.
Copyright: Don’t Steal other people’s work, without
permission and/or consent because that is stealing aka
copyright.
Chain letters: Stop sending chain letters… when you get
a chain letter saying “forward this to all your contacts,
or you’ll die in 6 minutes.” Just wait 6 minutes… don’t
forward the email. It’s fraudulent blackmail.
Flames: "Flaming" is what people do when they express
a strongly held opinion without holding back any
emotion. It's the kind of message that makes people
respond, "Oh come on, tell us how you really feel."
2. Address: Don’t share addresses online either purposely
or accidently. If you take a picture make sure there’s
no public address in it
Identity: Don’t show your identity to the world. Use a
fake account for things you don’t trust eg. Club Penguin
Message length: Always try to keep messages, to a
minimum amount of letters and straight to the point.
Some people are very busy and don’t have time to read
through a whole paragraph to know one thing.
Timeliness: Don’t send emails late at night or else they
seem demanding and pushy. 10 PM to 6 AM are general
sleeping times for people so don’t send emails in those
times. Y’know unless if they live in another timezone.
Spelling: Don’t use shortcuts. Just spell things they're
meant to be said.
Attachments: An extra part or extension that is or can
be attached to something to perform a particular
function.
3. Privacy: Respect, others privacy.. Don’t go searching
Shane's social security number. Leave them be to their
lives.
Graphics:To post a graphic and not offend people try to
understand what your audience or people that may view
your account *or post* may be interested in and what
they understand.
