Landscape Character Assessment
Delivering ‘Net Zero with Nature’
Promoting the use of nature-based solutions to tackle the
challenges of Climate Change.
 Recognises that the Climate and Nature emergency are
linked;
 Major work strand to develop a Nature Recovery Network
(NRN);
 Collaborative work with the Local Nature Partnerships;
 Work with the South East Protected Landscapes Group (SEPL)
to develop an NRN based on the Protected Landscapes.
‘Net-Zero’ target for the National Park
Meeting a ‘Net-Zero’ Carbon target for the National Park by
2040.
 Establishing a baseline for our Carbon Targets, working with
our constituent LPA’s to deliver net-zero targets;
 Establish common metrics and targets so we can make a
clear contribution to delivering national and locally based
targets;
 Understanding the full picture around NPA carbon emissions,
trajectories for achieving Net-Zero;
 Work with Local Authority and sector partners to deliver
shared-objectives.
‘The right intervention – in the right place’
Delivering ‘Net Zero with Nature’ – The link between Nature
Recovery and Climate Action. Starting to develop nature-based
solutions for addressing climate change impacts.
 Supporting farming and the land-based sector in its transition
to low-carbon future.
 Work with land-based sector partners to collaborate on the
delivery of shared net-zero targets.
 Develop pilot projects that show how Nature Recovery might
be financed through the development of carbon off-setting
schemes.
 Identify the best carbon storage options for the National Park
that provide the widest range of ecosystem service benefits.
