Oldest accrediting association and oversee more than 2000 public, private/independent and international schools

While some of the NEAC standard align with DESE- many do not
Peer review process- the visiting team consists of educators and administrators from all over NE
Reform committee working on narrowing that gap and aligning the work and seeking to make process less challenging and more affordable
Steering Committee- oversee the self study , and oversees the preparation of the self study
Self Study
A process by which the school community solicits and analyzes feedback to inform changes to the educational program: Focus question is “How well do we meet the 7 Standards fro Accreditiation?”
Has three parts: School and Community Summary, the reports on each of the 7 standards and the statement of the school’s critical strengths and needs.
Core values- does the school have a dynamic, inclusive process to develop the CV and beliefs- also how are skills fro the 21st Century embedded in instructional and how are they assessed and reported-also do the CV inform decision making, allocation of resources and the development of procedures and policies
Skills-technology, collaboration/team work, interdisciplinary work (FAA), personalization of instruction (FAA, co-teaching, blended learning, open honors)
Curriculum- review of the written curriculum
Instruction- review of the varied instructional practices in classrooms- co-teaching, blended learning, strategies for assessment (think, pair share, exit tickets)
Assessment- review of common and formative assessment, use of rubrics, grading policies and practice and how it aligns with Core Values/Beliefs
School Culture and leadership- does the educational program align with the school culture- does the culture reflect the core values and beliefs about learning, how does the leadership of the school inform policies, procedures, decision making
Also Does the principal have the autonomy to lead the school
School Resources- support standard (school health, media, sped, ell)
Community Resources- does the community support the schools’ mission, core values- examines the status of the facility, maintenance, capital spending, food serves, the development and allocation of budget funds
