2. c) To expose students to accepted standards and method of
detailing used in construction.
Special Notes :
1. Students should be encouraged to develop their skills in producing proper
accurate drawing using pencils and drawing pens.
2. Proper co-ordination with the co-requisite units should be maintained, as the
content covered under those units, have to be presented in drawings.
3. Suggested method of assessment consists of a series of course work assessed
continuously.

3. A Building Construction
1. Develop ability to produce working drawings for different of buildings
1.1 Prepare layout and construction detail drawings for
a) two storey domestic buildings
b) Single storey and two storey buildings other than type.
c) School buildings, public office buildings, commercial, buildings, Pavilions,
theatres, etc.
B Highway Engineering
2. Develop ability to produce working drawings for structures representing the content covered
under the unit “Highway Engineering”.
2.1 Prepare layout drawings and construction detail drawings, highway drainage
structures such as culverts, bridges.
C Water Supply and Sanitation
3. Develop ability to produce working drawings for structures, representing the content
covered under the unit “Water. Supply and Sanitation"
3.1 Prepare layout drawings and construction detail drawings representing.
a) Domestic water Supply and waste water disposal system
b) Water Supply and purification schemes.
c) Waste/stormed water disposal work and sewage disposal work and
treatment plants.

4.1 Prepare lay-out drawings and construction detail drawings for irrigation structures
such as anicuts sluice gates, dams, and spillways, distribution schemes etc.

5. Understand the importance of structural detailing and the preparation of such drawings.
5.1 Discuss the importance of adhering to standard forms of structural detailing.
5.2 Produce detail drawings of structural elements based on the designer's notes,
sketches and calculations.
