The Nature Conservancy is the leading global conservation organization, founded in 1951 by Richard H. Pough to protect ecologically important lands and waters for both nature and people. It works around the world in regions like Africa, Australia, the Caribbean, and America to preserve habitats for wildlife and recently purchased 161,000 acres in New York's Adirondack Park, the largest protected area in the United States, to save the land from development.
