The news agencies, also known as wire services, are among the most powerful and trusted names in news business. Some of them like Reuters have been in existence since the nineteenth century.
However, few are aware of their reach or existence. They do not own physical properties such as newspapers or television channels. But they generate news for all forms of media. Their subscribers include newspapers, magazines, radio stations, television networks and now news sites.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

National news agencies of 10 countries
1.
2. Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) is a
government-operated national news
agency of Pakistan. The name APP should not to
be confused with Associated Press Service (APS)
is a private independent Pakistani news agency
and other the much larger Associated Press news
agency (AP), based in New York, though it is a
subscriber to both AP and Reuters, based in
London. APP has News Exchange Agreements
with 37 Foreign News Agencies and more than
500 correspondents.
3. Since its inception after the independence of Pakistan, the
financial situation of APP continued to deteriorate until it
was on the verge of collapse. This was a direct result of
the withholding of payment of funds from the Government
of Pakistan due towards APP from the Ministry of
Information and Broadcasting in an effort to create a
financial crisis for the national news agency. In the early
1960s, APP owed about Rs. 8 lakhs (Rupees 800,000) to
the government's Post and Telegraph Department and
another Rs. 12 lakhs (Rupees 1200,000) in unpaid
subscription fees to foreign news agencies.
The Government of Pakistan intervened and took over the
agency on 15 July 1961 following the instructions of
certain vested interests within the Government of Pakistan.
A government ordinance was issued for it. The given
reason was to strengthen APP's financial foundation.
4. The takeover took place with several changes: Malik
Tajuddin was removed and A K Qureshi, a senior
government officer with some journalistic experience,
was hired as Administrator of APP. The head office of
the agency was shifted to Islamabad, the new capital
of Pakistan. While the financial position of the agency
further deteriorated, its coverage became more
biased as the government started to use it as an
official mouthpiece. A K Qureshi was a member of the
ill-fated National Press Trust delegation traveling to
London by PIA Flight 705 that crashed at Cairo on
May 20, 1965. He is buried in a mass grave at Cairo
alongside his fellow passengers: victims of Pakistan's
first jet aircraft disaster.

region in both English and Hindi. Its corporate office is
located at Sansad Marg, New Delhi and registered office in

take pride in the legacy of its work, and in its contribution
towards the building of a free and fair Press in India. On its

Kurdish (Kurmanci and Sorani), Bosnian, Croatian
and Serbian, Russian, Macedonian, Albanian and
Persian, and has a network of reporters in 86
countries. The products offered are available by

20. The history of Anadolu Agency (AA) is almost identical to that of the Republic of
Turkey. Having been founded on April 6, 1920, 17 days before the Turkish Grand
National Assembly convened first time, Anadolu Agency helped announce the first
legislation by the Assembly that established the Republic. Anadolu Agency
witnessed all stages of the National Struggle, the War of Liberation and reforms of
the Republic.
After Istanbul came under occupation on March 16, 1920 and the Ottoman
parliament was annulled, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk called on all provinces to hold
elections for a new parliament to be established in Ankara. Several intellectuals,
who realized that they could not stay in Istanbul any longer, tried to join the
National Struggle. This development paved the way for foundation of Anadolu
Agency.
Those intellectuals leaving Istanbul went to Ankara in two convoys. The journalist
Yunus Nadi (Abalioglu) and the writer Halide Edip (Adivar) met in Geyve on March
31st. During their meeting at the train station, they decided that it was necessary
to found "an agency organization" in Ankara as soon as possible. They agreed to
name the agency as "Anadolu Agency".
21. It was proposed to establish Anadolu Agency at the "School of
Agriculture" which also housed Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's
headquarters. On April 6th, 1920, Anadolu Agency was founded.
Anadolu Agency carried out a difficult task during the War of
Liberation. During the war, Anadolu Agency informed the people
of the country who did not know what was going on in the rest of
the world. AA also struggled against submissive attitude of some
foreign and Turkish newspapers in Istanbul. The newly founded
agency also had to defend the National Struggle in the world,
inform the world public opinion on Turkey's rightful demands
and act carefully against tricks of some circles.
After Ataturk assigned some of his closest friends to turn the
Anadolu Agency into a Western news agency, Anadolu Agency
Corporation was established on March 1, 1925. Anadolu Agency
acquired an autonomous status with an unexampled
organizational chart even in the Western countries in those days.

news in both Arabic and English. The SPA has offices
in Bonn, Cairo, London, Tunis and Washington, DC.
In late May 2012, the Saudi Council of Ministers made a decision to
separate Saudi Television and Radio and Saudi Press Agency (SPA),
making both as two independent corporations.
Under the May 2012 restructuring, the SPA covers events and issues at
national, regional and international levels, especially those related to the
Kingdom and contribute to strengthening the journalistic profession in
the country. The new arrangement also involves the transformation of
the SPA into a Presidency. The president is Abdullah bin Fahd Al
Hussein. The minister of culture and information acts as the board
chairman of the agency.
In November 2013, the SPA signed a news exchange agreement
with Anadolu Agency, official news agency of Turkey.
