ASSOCIATED PRESS OF PAKISTAN
CORPORATION (APPC)
The Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) started its life in 1947 with the
independence of Pakistan. Initially it was run through a Trust, but owing to
financial bottlenecks, it was taken over by the Government through an
Ordinance called; “Associated Press of Pakistan (taking over) Ordinance 1961″,
on 15th June 1961, to put it on a sound financial footing. APP was later converted
into Corporation on October 19, 2002 through an Ordinance renaming it as
Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation (APPC) and lending a status of semi
government media government. The number of news reports, released to the
National Media daily in English, Urdu, Sindhi and Pushto languages have recorded
significant improvement with complete domination over all other news agencies in
the country. The news agency is playing a leading role by supplying authentic and
credible news to the print and electronic media round-the-clock. Around one
thousand news, over two hundred pictures and clean feed of Video News Service
(VNS) containing important events and developments are put on wire daily for
onward consumption by the media subscribers.
PAKISTAN PRESS INTERNATIONAL
(PPI)Pakistan Press International (PPI), the country’s independent news agency, was
established in1956 with a view to providing the media in Pakistan with an
objective news service. Since then, it has carried out its mission under most trying
circumstances. PPI has an extensive news file prepared by over 300 staffers
and stringers in all parts of the country. All major newspapers, radio and
television stations in Pakistan subscribe to PPI news service. PPI has
bureaus in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Azad Kashmir,
Multan and Hyderabad Linked by a computer network One of the
outstanding achievements of PPI is that it has provided on-the
job training to a large number of journalists. The agency has followed a
policy of training newcomers in the field of journalism. PPI develops their
spirit of initiative and impresses upon them the need for objective,
investigative and analytical reporting. At least one-third of the
journalists working in the national press and public relations media, many
of them distinguished in their field, have had their training in PPI.
INDEPENDENT NEWS PAKISTAN (INP)INP is among the Pakistan leaders in online news and information delivery.
Staffed 24 hours, seven days a week by a dedicated staff in INP Capital
headquarters in Islamabad, and in bureaus Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi,

NNI NEWS
NNI News or News Network International (NNI) is a private-operated
national news agency of Pakistan. It is a Pakistan's most prominent news
agency after Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and competitor of INP,
ANN, Online, INN, PPA and SABAH. It was established in 1992 and
headquartered in G-7 zero point, Islamabad. It have also offices in
other major cities of Pakistan
including Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar. It have hundreds
of reporters, Bureau chief all across the Pakistan and around the globe
to cover national and international issues. It provide services in both
languages Urdu and English.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS NETWORK
Online International News network (OINN) is Pakistan's leading news and
photo agency. This is Pakistan's first bilingual news and photo wire
service, dedicated to issues that are neglected by the mainstream media.
Mr. Mohsin Baig, the company's Chairman thought of setting up a news
network worthy of credibility at home as well as in the foreign world. Mr.
Baig, who has been a journalist in his own right and now Chief Executive
Online initiated this project in January 1999. After attaining the status of
a credible and most subscribed news/photo service provider in Pakistan,
it launched English/Arabic news and pictures service for daily, weekly

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA (PTI)
Press Trust of India (PTI) is India’s premier news agency, having a
reach as vast as the Indian Railways. It employs more than 400
journalists and 500 stringers to cover almost every district and small
town in India. It was registered in 1947 and started functioning in
1949. Collectively, it put out more than 2,000 stories and 200
photographs a day to feed the expansive appetite of the diverse
subscribers, who include the mainstream media, the specialized
presses, research groups, companies, and government and non-
governmental organizations. PTI correspondents are also based
in leading capitals and important business and administrative
centers around the world. It also has exchange arrangements
with several foreign news agencies to magnify its global news
footprint. Currently, PTI commands 90 per cent of new agency
market share in India.
EMIRATES NEWS AGENCY (WAM)
In November 1976, the United Arab Emirates decided to set up the Emirates
News Agency (WAM) as a media entity to communicate news and information
about the country. On 18 June, 1977, WAM began its long professional journey
transmitting UAE news and covering all political, economic and transformative
activities from across the country. This has been in addition to gathering and
transmitting all activities related to the country abroad and to its diplomatic and
humanitarian missions, exhibitions and delegations. This has been done
through an outstanding professional cadre which was able to present a strong
and accurate image of UAE via WAM
BERNAMA
The Malaysian National News Agency abbreviated BERNAMA, is a news
agency of the government of Malaysia. Bernama is an abbreviation
of Berita Nasional Malaysia. It was set up by an Act of Parliament in 1967
and started work on 20 May 1968. BERNAMA operates from its
headquarters at Wisma Bernama, off Jalan Tun Razak near National
Library, Kuala Lumpur. Most of the news media
in Malaysia and Singapore and international news agencies subscribe to
BERNAMA. Bernama began reporting using the audio-visual medium
with the opening of its audio-visual division in September 1998. It also
has its own radio and television channel, Radio24, which is a 24-
hours news and talk radio station broadcasting in the areas of Kuala
Lumpur or Klang Valley on 93.9 FM and Johor Bauru on 107.5 FM,
and Bernama TV a news channel which offers news
in Malay, English, Chinese and Tamil on Channel 502 and Channel 410
of Astro and Unifi, respectively.
XINHUA NEWS AGENCY
The Xinhua News Agency is the official press agency of the People's Republic
of China. It was started in November 1931 as the Red China News
Agency and changed to its current name in 1937.Xinhua is the biggest
and most influential media organization in China. Xinhua is a ministry-level
institution subordinate to the Chinese central government. Its president
is a member of the Central Committee of China's Communist Party.
Xinhua operates more than 170 foreign bureaus worldwide, and
maintains 31 bureaus in China—one for each province, plus a military
bureau. It owns more than 20 newspapers and a dozen magazines, and
it prints in eight languages: Chinese, English, Spanish, French, Russian,
Portuguese, Arabic, and Japanese. The agency recently began to
converge its news and electronic media coverage and has increased its
English coverage through its wire service. Xinhua recently acquired
commercial real estate on New York's Times Square and is developing a
staff of top-tier English-language reporters. Xinhua has also started an
English-language satellite news network.
ISLAMIC REPUBLIC NEWS AGENCY (IRNA)
The Islamic Republic News Agency or IRNA, is the official news agency of the
Islamic Republic of Iran. It is government-funded and controlled under the
Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. The agency also publishes the
newspaper Iran. As of 2010, the Managing Director of IRNA is Mohammad
Khodaddi. IRNA has 60 offices in Iran and 30 more in various countries around
the world. HISTORY: In 1934, Pars Agency was established by the Foreign
Ministry of Iran (Persia) as the country's official national news outlet.
After the Iranian Revolution in February 1979, the Revolutionary Council
(Shawra-ye-Enqelab), in June 1979, renamed the Ministry of Information
and Tourism to the National Guidance Ministry (or Ministry of National
Guidance). The same year Pars News Agency was renamed as the Islamic
Republic News Agency.
SYRIAN ARAB NEWS AGENCY (SANA)
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) is a news
agency in Syria. It is a public-owned media
organization linked to the Ministry of Information. It
was established in June 1965. SANA launched its
website in 1997. Up until November 2012,
SANA's website was hosted in Dallas, Texas by
the United States company Soft Layer. Due to
sanctions related to the Syrian Civil War, which
make this hosting illegal, the Soft Layer company
was obliged to terminate its hosting
responsibilities with SANA.

AGENCY FRANCE PRESS (AFP)
Agency France-Press (AFP) is an international news agency headquartered
in Paris, France. Founded in 1944, AFP is the third largest news agency in the
world, after the Associated Press (AP) and Reuters. Journalists of the French
Resistance established the AFP in the headquarters of the former "Office Français
d'Information", a Vichy news agency, following the liberation of Paris.
Currently, the CEO is Emmanuel Hoog (fr) and the News Director is Michele
Léridon. AFP has regional offices in Nicosia, Montevideo, Hong Kong,
and Washington, D.C, and bureau in 150 countries. AFP transmits news
in French, English, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, and German.
REUTERS
Reuters is an international news agency headquartered in Canary
Wharf, London, England, United Kingdom and is a division of Thomson
Reuters.
Until 2008, the Reuters news agency formed part of an independent
company, Reuters Group plc, which was also a provider of financial market
data. Since the acquisition of Reuters Group by the Thomson Corporation in
2008, the Reuters news agency has been a part of Thomson Reuters, making
up the media division. Reuters transmits news
in English, French, Arabic, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Jap
anese, Korean, Urdu, and Chinese. It was established in 1851 by Paul Julius
Reuter in Britain at the London Royal Exchange. Almost every major
news outlet in the world subscribed to Reuters as of 2014. Reuters
operated in more than 200 cities in 94 countries in about 20 languages
as of 2014.
ASSOCIATED PRESS (AP)
The Associated Press (AP) is an American multinational nonprofit news
agency headquartered in New York City that operates as
a cooperative, unincorporated association. It was formed in May 1846.Mary
junck is the chairman and Gary Pruitt is the president and CEO of the
AP. Most of the AP staff are union members and are represented by
the Newspaper Guild, which operates under the Communications
Workers of America, which operates under the AFL–CIO. As of 2007,
news collected by the AP was published and republished by more than
1,700 newspapers, in addition to more than 5,000 television and radio
broadcasters. The photograph library of the AP consists of over 10
million images. The AP operates 243 news bureaus in 120 countries. It
also operates the AP Radio Network, which provides newscasts twice
hourly for broadcast and satellite radio and television stations.
Cutbacks at rival United Press International in 1993 left the AP as the
United States' primary news service, although UPI still produces and
distributes stories and photos daily. Other English-language news
services, such as the BBC, Reuters and the English-language service
of Agency France-Press, are based outside the United States.
