National Cancer Awareness Day is observed annually in India on November 7th to raise awareness about cancer prevention and early detection. The day was first announced in 2014 by the Indian health minister to generate public awareness about cancer and the importance of early detection and avoiding cancer-causing behaviors. Cancer occurs when abnormal cell growth forms tumors that can spread if left untreated, so the goal of Cancer Awareness Day is to educate people on prevention, screening, and improving health-seeking behaviors for potential symptoms.
This ppt gives a basic overview of cancer and difference between cancer and tumor.
It also contains basic screening tests for various types of cancers.

Abstract
The main focus of the report will be to research on the various methods through which cancer can be treated with a keen eye on why some methods are ineffective and lead to death. A discussion on different cancer treatment will be done followed by the types of cancer that cause millions of death today. Presentation of answers to the research questions will be done in line with ineffective cancer treatment methods. Relevant literature review will be conducted and used to support the claims of ineffective cancer treatments. Lastly, recommendations on the best cancer treatment will be done.
Introduction
Cancer is an ailment caused by the unrestrained division of abnormal cells in the body. The cancer cells are malignant meaning they can spread from the origin to distant organs and tissues. The disease can be genetically hereditary hence can be crossed over from one generation to another. Some of the forms of cancer treatment include targeted therapy, hormone therapy, chemotherapy, precision medicine, surgery, immunotherapy, and stem cell transplant. Some of the common types of this disease include lung, liver, stomach, and bowel cancers.
Cancer is also called as malignancy which means abnormal cells growth. More than 100 types of cancer are found in this world today, including breast cancer (widely spread among women), skin cancer (found in the person of almost every age), lung cancer (common among smokers), colon cancer, lymphoma and prostate cancer. Each kind of cancer has varying symptoms. Cancer differs with respect to the cell it affects first. The uncontrollable division of cells harm the body and form lumps and the masses of tissues which are known as tumors. The tumor grows in size and sometimes even intervene the digestive system, circulatory system, excretory system and nervous system. In the case of leukemia, cancer inhibits the normal blood functioning which is caused due to the abnormal cell division into the blood stream. Cancer also causes the systems of the body to secrete hormones that alter the body functioning. Tumors that do not grow and remain limited to one spot are considered to slightly less harmful and benign. The sign of the more dangerous and malignant cells is:
1. The harmful cancerous cells move from one spot to another throughout the body using blood as a medium and invade the organs and the healthy tissues of the body.
2. These cells grow and divide rapidly, they make blood vessels of their own which are used by them in the process of feeding, called as angiogenesis.
Then comes a stage is known as metastasized in which the tumor spread successfully to the other parts of the body, penetrating into the healthy tissues of the body and damaging them badly. The process is known as metastasis. It cause ...
Human health has many aspects, we need to feed the diet which provides better nutrition and gives good health, an absence of disease and good behaviour. There are many health-related problems and conditions are responsible for the weak health and sometimes death causing illness, in which cancer is one most common health risk in human healthcare. Cancer is the state in which cell division is uncontrolled which damage the cells and in the last stage, if incurable caused death. There are many reasons why cell got infected due to cancerous infections, in which food habits and quality of foodstuffs are also increased the risk of cancer, like mycotoxins contamination in the food. MSG additives, taste enhancer, food colouring etc. done by the chemical processing which produces toxins inside the during the oxidation process of food. Cancer is causes of death rate higher than other health risks all over the world. The number of cancer cases is likely to rise up to 24 million by 2035. Several studies were performed in the last years in order to explore and analyze associations between diet and risk of cancer. The risk of cancer is depending on the degree of exposure to contaminated food, availability of nutrients in the body, dietary pattern and lifestyle as well as food behaviour. Research from a number of sources provides information that some vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, dietary fibre, certain micronutrients, few fatty acids and physical activity protect against cancers. Whereas poor dietary intake, imbalanced nutrition, less physical activity trances fatty acids, food processing and cooking method may increase risks.

Speech about Cancer
Introduction
Cancer is currently a major issue globally. Cancer is the leading cause of death in many countries today (Zaorsky et al, 2016). This is because many types of cancers affect individuals. Many countries are considering declaring cancer as a national disaster (Zaorsky et al, 2016). It affects all individuals whether male or female, old or young, active or inactive, and slim or overweight. There is no guarantee for an individual that he/she cannot get cancer. Every person, therefore, is at high risk of getting cancer. However, there are some things you can do to protect yourself. This will help you to lower the risks of getting cancer. This speech, therefore, seeks to highlight more about the major causes of cancer, signs and symptoms and the measures which you can put in place to protect yourself.
Body
As an individual may be many questions have been puzzling in your mind and you try to ask yourself how cancer develops. Maybe you have been asking yourself such kinds of questions now and then and you have not been getting any answer. There may be a growth of abnormal cells in the body. This particular growth of abnormal cells in the body may be uncontrollable. These abnormal cells become cancerous, develop and become cancer cells. Cancer cells will develop as a result of DNA being permanently damaged (Guy Jr et al, 2016). Cancer cells will continue developing until it forms tumors. Cancer develops in a body via some stages.
After cancer cells develop in a certain tissue of the body, it spreads throughout the body. Cancer cells spread rapidly throughout the body. If all body cells are replaced by the cancer cells, then the body will no longer be functioning well. This will expose an individual to a greater risk of death. Cancer cells also replace normal tissues. It is important to note that cancer will be named by the place it started in the body. For example, if the cancer cells started developing in the lungs, it will be named lung cancer. On the other hand, if cancer starts in the colon, then it will be referred to as colon cancer.
There are several signs and symptoms of cancer. The symptoms and signs of cancer are noticeable. Some of the signs and symptoms that you may identify and you should let your doctor check are many. Examples include a lump on any part of your body, changes in your body skin, cough and change in the bowel that last for several weeks, blood in the urine, coughing out blood and a sudden huge loss in weight (Tang et al, 2016). If you observe any of these signs, you should immediately pay a visit to your doctor. I advise you not to ig ...

New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection

Lung Cancer: Artificial Intelligence, Synergetics, Complex System Analysis, S...Oleg Kshivets
RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.
Flu Vaccine Alert in Bangalore Karnatakaaddon Scans
As flu season approaches, health officials in Bangalore, Karnataka, are urging residents to get their flu vaccinations. The seasonal flu, while common, can lead to severe health complications, particularly for vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.
Dr. Vidisha Kumari, a leading epidemiologist in Bangalore, emphasizes the importance of getting vaccinated. "The flu vaccine is our best defense against the influenza virus. It not only protects individuals but also helps prevent the spread of the virus in our communities," he says.
This year, the flu season is expected to coincide with a potential increase in other respiratory illnesses. The Karnataka Health Department has launched an awareness campaign highlighting the significance of flu vaccinations. They have set up multiple vaccination centers across Bangalore, making it convenient for residents to receive their shots.
To encourage widespread vaccination, the government is also collaborating with local schools, workplaces, and community centers to facilitate vaccination drives. Special attention is being given to ensuring that the vaccine is accessible to all, including marginalized communities who may have limited access to healthcare.
Residents are reminded that the flu vaccine is safe and effective. Common side effects are mild and may include soreness at the injection site, mild fever, or muscle aches. These side effects are generally short-lived and far less severe than the flu itself.
Healthcare providers are also stressing the importance of continuing COVID-19 precautions. Wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, and maintaining social distancing are still crucial, especially in crowded places.
Protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated. Together, we can help keep Bangalore healthy and safe this flu season. For more information on vaccination centers and schedules, residents can visit the Karnataka Health Department’s official website or follow their social media pages.
Stay informed, stay safe, and get your flu shot today!
2. National Cancer Awareness Day is observed on
November 7 in India. The day highlights the
significance of increased awareness about cancer
prevention and early detection for the general
public.
National Cancer Awareness Day was first
announced by the Indian Union Minister for
Health and Family Welfare Dr. Harsh Vardhan
in September 2014, and that 7th November will
be observed as National Cancer Awareness Day
every year to generate awareness about early
detection and avoid leading cancer-causing
lifestyles.
3. A disease which occurs when changes in a
group of normal cells within the body lead
to uncontrolled, abnormal growth forming
a lump called a tumour
If left untreated, tumours can grow and
spread into the surrounding normal tissue,
or to other parts of body
4. TYPES OF CANCER
A tumour is classified into one of these three types based on its
ability to undergo metastasis (spreading):
Benign Tumour
These tumours are localized at a particular location in the body.
Moreover, it does not spread to the other parts of the body and is
generally harmless. However, when a benign tumour occurs in
areas such as the brain, it can turn fatal. Treatment often involves
surgery and it does not grow back
5. Malignant Tumour
These tumours are cancerous – meaning that they will grow quickly
and spread to other normal tissues of the body. This ability to spread
is called metastasis. Usually, cancer cells metastasize when it gets into
the bloodstream or the lymph nodes and form secondary tumours
across various sites in the body.
Premalignant Tumour
This type of tumour may be benign but is observed to have the
characteristics of a malignant tumour. It may not have metastasized
yet, but it has the potential to turn cancerous. In other words, a
premalignant tumour is a type of tumour that has an increased risk of
becoming cancer. Benign tumours become premalignant and
eventually, malignant
6. Types of cancer
From a medical perspective, cancer types can be classified based on the type of
cell they originated from. Therefore cancer can be classified into

17. Early detection
There are a number of cancers which can be identified early which
helps to improve the chances. of successful treatment outcomes,
often at lower costs and with fewer (or less significant) side effects
for patients.
→ There are cost-effective tests that help detect colorectal, breast,
cervical and oral cancers early and further tests are being
developed for other cancers.

21. Treating cancer
Surgery
If a cancer has not metastasized (spread), surgery can remove the
entire cancer which may completely cure the disease. Often, this is
effective in removing the prostate or a breast or testicle.
Radiotherapy
Radiation treatment or radiotherapy uses high-energy rays to
reduce a tumour or destroy cancer cells as a stand-alone treatment
and in some cases in combination with other cancer treatments.
22. Treating cancer
Chemotherapy
• Chemotherapy uses chemicals to interfere with the way cells divide -
damaging of DNA- so that cancer cells will destroy themselves.
→ These treatments target any rapidly dividing cells (not necessarily
just cancer cells), but normal cells usually can recover from any
chemical-induced damage while cancer cells cannot.
• Chemotherapy is generally used to treat cancer that has spread or
metastasized because the medicines travel throughout the entire body.
It is a necessary treatment for some forms of leukaemia and lymphoma
23. Treating cancer
Immunotherapy
* Immunotherapy uses the body's own immune system to fight the
cancer tumour.
* Immunotherapy may treat the whole body by giving an agent that can
shrink tumours.
Hormone therapy
→ Several cancers have been linked to some types of hormones.
including breast and prostate cancer.
→ Hormone therapy works to change hormone production in the body
so that cancer cells stop growing or are killed completely.
24. Gene therapy
The goal of gene therapy is to replace damaged genes with ones
that work to address a root cause of cancer: damage to DNA.
Other gene-based therapies focus on further damaging cancer cell
DNA to the point where the cell destroys themselves.
However, gene therapy is new and has not yet resulted in any
successful treatments.
26. ● Cancer awareness is the key to early detection and better health-
seeking behaviour.
● Cancer is quite common in both developing as well as developed
countries, but awareness is yet poor among the general population.
● Poor awareness may lead to poor uptake of screening modalities
and delay in diagnosis.
● One factor that has been consistently shown to be associated with
late diagnosis and treatment is a delay in seeking help for cancer-
like symptoms.
● This paper reviews the literature on cancer awareness among the
general population and attitude towards screening modalities.
27. ● The poor awareness level among the Indian population shows
the need for health education and sensitisation regarding cancer
and its different aspects.
● This will be helpful in the successful implementation of health
programmes related to cancer.
