A team of doctors at SIMS Hospital in Vadapalani, Chennai successfully removed a 10 kg tumor, the size of a football, from a 50-year-old woman. The rare tumor had engulfed the woman's entire abdomen. The doctors performed a cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy procedure to remove the tumor. This complex procedure took 10 hours but has given the woman a new lease on life without pain or cancer.
