Good Evening, Ladies and Gentleman, the galaxy of intellectuals, invited guests
and all other dignitaries. On the behalf of the Indian Medical Association,
Kottayam Branch I Miss Prabha with my Friend Simi take immense pleasure to
welcome you all to the X-mas-New Year Celebrations –Renaissance 2017-2018.
Today is a great Day, tonight program is unique in several respects-we have the
participation of an array of IMA Leaders, Guruvandanam- a salute to all the
Teachers and you will yourself discover as the colors of cultural feast by IMA
members and their kith and kin. Moreover the whole program will be blessed by
the presence of IMA State and National Leaders.
We are soliciting your esteemed presence along with your family members from
beginning to end.

We call ourselves truly fortunate to be directed by efficient yet humble hands who
only knows to give and not simply give but give the bestto anyone in need .So with
great delight we welcome Dr.C.P.Vijayan, President, Indian Medical Association,
Kottayam to address the gathering.

LIGHTING THE LAMP
Buddha says ‘just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from
good deeds and wisdom appears from pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely
through the maze of human life one needs the light of wisdom and guidance of
virtue.
Now I request Dr E K Ummer, IMA State President and Former DMO to light the
lamp and deliver the speech
Guruvandhanam- a tribute to the Teachers
Salutations to the teacher, who opens one’s eyes to the truth, by dispelling the
darkness of ignorance and paints in light using a brush, dipped in the colors of
knowledge. The Guru has always enjoyed a distinct stature in Indian Culture and is
considered for worship even before God,
“Mata Pita Guru Deivam” as the order of worship goes…!
Now it’s time to felicitate the special people who brings the light of knowledge and
learning into the lives of many.

First and ForemostI would like to welcome Dr.K.P.George to the Stage and Take
the seat,
It’s my Pleasure and Privilege to introduce the Senior Most Teacher
Dr.K.P.George. Dr.K.P.George was born in the year 1928 at Thrissur and
completed his MBBS from University of Madras in the year 1951 and 1958 he has
completed his Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from Edinburg .Besides
he obtained his MCRCP in the year 1963 and did his training in Endocrinology
from England in the year 1975.
From 1953 he was a teacher in various Medical Colleges in Kerala and retired from
Kottayam Medical College in the year 1983as an Associate professor.
He served as a President of Indian Medical Association, Association of Physician
of India Kerala Unit, Kerala Diabetic Foundation and Kottayam Senior Citizen
Forum,
Another interesting fact, He is a good writer and loves Music. He has written and
published many Books.
Hearty Welcome to you Sir and will give a big round of applause to this eminent
personality

It’s my privilege to welcome Dr. Mathew Parakkal to the stage
Dr. Mathew Parakkal was born in the year 1932 at Kottayam. He has completed his
MBBS in 1995 from Madras Medical College. After completing his MBBS, he
worked as a Tutor in Government College Trivandrum. He did his MD in General
Medicine from Grant Medical College Mumbai.
After his post graduation he worked as Tutor in Government Medical college,
Calicut from 1961-1963, and was promoted as Asst. professor in medicine to
Government Medical College Kottayam. He was one of the initial faculty members
of Government Medical colleges Kottayam and Calicut.

Dr. Mathew Parakkal was promoted as Associate professor in 1967 and as
professor in 1972. He retired as professor of Medicine from Government Medical
College Kottayam in May 1988.
After his retirement he is working as consultant physician and Medical
superintendent at S.H Medical Centre Hospital, kottayam.

Next I would like to welcome Dr.Kurian Thomas,
Dr.Kurian Thomas was worked as a professor and HOD of Pediatrics in various
Medical Colleges in Kerala both Government and Private Sector. He Served IMA
Kottayam President for the Year 1981-1982 and also worked as IMA Secretary. For
3 Years Dr.Kurian was the State Branch Editor of Kerala Medical Journal. Apart
from this he was the President of Indian Academy of Pediatrics Kerala State
Branch

Dr.Babu Chacko is a leading Physician of Kottayam, Completed his Graduation in
1966 from AFMC, Pune and served the Indian Army Medical Corps, Armed forces
Oman and as CMO of Royal Oman police.
He is a Gold Medalist in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and he holds double
MRCP from U K and Ireland.
He has served many Hospitals in and Around Kottayam as a leading Physician.
Dr.Babu Chacko who is the proprietor of Modern Diagnostic Group of
Establishments has a unique distinction of starting several new modalities of
investigatory facilities in Central Travancore.
First Nuclear medicine department with gamma camera in private sector,First
Blood Bank with components, first USG/ECHO machine in Central Travancore.,
First Dual Slice CT in Kerala.

A few words about Dr. Marthandan Pillai hails from Trivandrum is a well known
Neuro Surgeon, He was the Former State and National president of IMA. Padma
Shree Dr. A. Marthanda Pillai is the National Action Committee Chairman and
above this he is the Chairman For Ananthapuri Hospitals & Research Institute
(AHRI).

2. Next I like to call Dr.R.V.Ashokan
Dr.R.V.Ashokan who is the native of Punalur is a physician by profession and he
was the Past State President and Secretary of IMA and also he is the National
Action Committee Chairman.

Prof. Roy Abraham Kallivayalil is Secretary General of the World Psychiatric
Association, Vice-Principal, Professor& Head, Dept. of Psychiatry at Pushpagiri
Institute of Medical Sciences (Tiruvalla, Kerala).He got Govt of Kerala Best Doctor
Award in the year 2007

Prof.N.Sudhayakumar hails from Kottayam, Is the Former Principal and DME of
Kerala Medical College Services and also he was the Past KTM branch President
of IMA. Currently he is working as the Senior Cardiologist in S H Medical Centre
and Bharath Hospital Kottayam.
