doctors performed a rare
cytoreductive surgery
(CRS) and hyperthermic
i n t r a p e r i t o n e a l
chemotherapy (HIPEC)
procedure to remove the
rare tumor. This unique
procedure is directed
towards patients who
have a significant
disease load involving
multiple regions in the
abdominal cavity during
initial presentation.

and Appendix. It posed
a significant challenge
to the surgical team,
owing to the sheer size
of the tumour and the
amount of discomfort
the patient initially
presented with.

kg had secreted a lot
of jelly like material
which had engulfed
the entire abdomen
and caused significant
breathlessness to the
patient. After careful
evaluation, we decided
to offer the patient
CRS with HIPEC.
This state of the art
procedure consists of
meticulously removing
diseased portions
in the abdominal
cavity including
p e r i t o n e c t o m y
followed by instilling
and circulating heated
c h e m o t h e r a p e u t i c
agents during surgery
itself that has
maximum effect to
control the tumour
cells. This procedure
results in prolonged
survival in abdominal
cancer patients. The
surgery was performed
for 10 hours and the
patient is ready to go
home to enjoy good
health in a week’s
time.”

pain and now I am
pain free. I would like

resident of Nathamuni
Street, T. Nagar and
President, Rotary Club
of Madras T. Nagar won
the 36 awards from
Rotary District 3230
for his social service
project between June
2014 to June 2015.
He was felicitated by
his club members and
Rotary International
for his achievements
recently held on July 30
at Residency Towers, T.
Nagar.
He organized more
than 200 eye camps
under the banner of
the club in that nearly
50,000 people were
examined, among
that 4170 spectacles
provided to the freely to
needy and 934 catract
surgeries operated with
free of cost.
He also orgnaized
special veterinary
camps in village,
Thiruniravur where
number of animals
includes treated and
medicine provide free
of cost.
Mahaveer had
conducted cultural
program for special
children where 1500
students participated
and he have prize to
all the participants and
provide assistances.
Under the ‘Education
to Girl Child’ program
he provide education
assistance of Rs.
15 lakhs to 766
students studying
in Government,
G o v e r n m e n t
aided schools and
Corporation Schools.
He also conducted
blood donation
camps, constructed
a classroom for
V i v e k a n a n d a
Educational Trust,
donated Rs. 1 lakh
to Vivekananda
Rural Development
Society’s single
teacher schools
and conducted
annadhanam and
donated various
materials in oldage
homes, orphanages,
mentally retarded
and other centres.

325 girls from 12th
std participated.

school uniforms to
180 students of Sri
Ramakrishna Mission
Tamil Medium School,
M a h a r a j a p u r a m
Santhanam Salai, T.
Nagar on Aug. 1.
They also donated
Rs. 15000 to the
Headmistress of
Government High
School, T. Nagar for the
students and school
welfare, Rs. 5000 each
to E. Rajagopal towards
the educational fees of
his daughter studying
in the Std. 6 and
Jayaraman towards
the educational fees of
his son Srinivasan who
is a special child with
hyperactive behaviour
problems.
P. S. Mohan (Alumnus
and Member) said that
Shrine Vailankanni
School 1982 Alumni
was formed in the
year 2010 and it has
completed around 5
years. It has established
connectivity with
around 85 friends
spread across the world
and the group with the
motto of giving back to
the society in a small
way is involved in the
charity activities for the
last 4 years.
He said that they are
sponsoring towards
the school uniform
of Ramakrishna
Tamil Medium School
kids during the last
4 years for around
200 kids each and
every year. Last year
additionally the kids
were presented with
the essential playing
items.
Mohan said that they
also supporting Govt.
Girl's High School
for the last 4 years
towards the welfare
of the girl children it
includes bags, green
boards, library shelf
and snacks for evening
special classes.
He said that they also
provided provisions
and essential items
required by an old age
home at Nanmangalam
and to corporation
schools at Tondiarpet
and Parrys. Their
main aim to provide
educational assistance
to the deserving
students and in this
endeavour we have
helped many children
and hope to continue in
the coming years also,
he added.
Mohan said that one of
the trust beneficiary is
employed in a software
company and our group
is happy to note this
latest development.
