Naberezhnye Chelny has a rich history dating back to 1172 when it was first a village called Chelny. It was granted town status in 1930 and renamed several times before taking its current name in 1988. Today it is one of the largest towns in Tatarstan, known for being home to the massive Kamaz vehicle factory, which has made it a major industrial center. The population is nearly 600,000 people.

2. Naberezhnye Chelny has a very rich history.
Firstly, in 1172, Chelny was a village and only in 1930 it was
granted as a town. In 1982 that town was called Brezhnev. Finally, in
1988 it took the name Naberezhnye Chelny.
In July,1969 in Naberezhnye Chelny, near the road
to Menzelinsk, was laid the first symbolic stone with the inscription
"Here will be built the Kama Automobile Plant".

3. Naberezhnye Chelny is one of the largest towns of the Tatarstan.
The total area of my native town is 171 km². It is situated on the
Kama River. The population of our town is nearly 600,000 people.

5. Naberezhnye Chelny is very beautiful
young town. There are a lot of sights
that you can visit, for example, so
called «skullcap», the 24-
storied cylindrical tower, which is
visible from almost anywhere in the
town.
The citizens of Chelny
commemorate the participants of
the Great Patriotic War. That’s
why we have many monuments
devoting to this event.

6. There are also several monuments to the
founders of the Kamaz, who made a
huge contribution to the building of the plant.
If you are the fan of this singer, you can visit
the monument to Vladimir Vysotsky.
Our citizens are very
religious and they
regularly visit mosques
and churches.

7. Today Chelny is one of the biggest industrial center. It specializes in
engineering,construction industry, power generation, processing and food
industries. It’s important to say, that Naberezhnye Chelny became
famous because of the plant Kamaz, which is the largest vehicle factory
in the world. It also has its own railway station and port facility too.

9. Naberezhnye Chelny KBK is the only producer of paper and
corrugated containers in Tatarstan. Broad spectrum of products
from raw materials is produced there.

10. Naberezhnye Chelny is the town
of young people. There are 85
state schools, several art schools,
many centers for young people.
You may also find a lot of
institutions of higher education.

11. The citizens of Chelny prefer a healthy
lifestyle. That’s why you can see in our town
many sport centers, fitness clubs, ice centers.
We have our own sport teams too: football
teams “Kamaz” and Saturn, hockey team
“Chelny”, rally team “Kamaz-Master”.

12. Naberezhnye Chelny is a great place if you
want to have fun or relax. In the city several
theaters, such as Russian Drama Theatre,
State Tatar Drama Theatre, Puppet Theatre,
the theater of fashion "Reflection“.
The museum of the city's history, art gallery,
the museum of construction KamAZ, the
Museum of Environment and Conservation –
are interesting places too. There are also
several major theaters, cultural centers,
concert hallorgan music, Delphi, shopping
centers.
The government organize different holidays,
for example in winter New Year concerts, in
summer The Day of Flower, Sabantuy, in
autumn different fairs and etc.

14. Dolphinarium in Naberezhnye
Chelny is the first and only in
the Volga region Dolphinarium.
This is a wonderful place for
family rest. Visit Chelny

children is an unforgettable
experience for the whole life.

15. Naberezhnye Chelny takes care of
the citizen’s health. There are 14
hospitals, nearly 40 therapeutic
and prophylactic institutions,
many famous sanatroys. People
are very attentive to their health
and they always go to sport
centers.
