Myopia, or nearsightedness, is characterized by blurred distance vision due to the focal point being in front of the retina. Diagnosis can be achieved through subjective and objective methods, with treatment primarily involving corrective lenses, such as eyeglasses and contact lenses, designed to counteract the curvature of the cornea or length of the eye. Symptoms include squinting, keeping reading materials close, and night blindness, with myopia categorized into three degrees based on severity.
