Sherwin Abrique is a third year English major student pursuing his degree at age 25 to have a better career. His goal is to become an effective teacher. He chose his test paper from his Curriculum Development class as evidence of his learning progression. While it wasn't the highest grade, he was proud of it because he studied hard for two days. The test highlighted areas he needed more review in. His reflection showed how overconfidence and lack of studying after vacation led to a lower grade, an important lesson for him.

2. Hi, my name is Sherwin Abrique and I am a third year English major student. At the
age of 25, I am still taking my college degree for the purpose that I want to have a better
career in the near future. My greatest goal is to finish my studies and to be an effective
teacher someday. I know to myself that teaching may be the hardest job, but for me,
Everythingcanbe studiedandI am willingtolearn. Basically, I am the kind of person who enjoys
working with different kinds of individuals and I love variations and I can appreciate
individuality. So, in working with different kinds of people has always been a challenging
thing to me and I like challenges.
To my dearest reader, let me share to you my learning progression throughout my
college career. When I was in first year, I felt; I didn’t have a confidence. My shyness never
leaves me. I was shivering with fear every time I reported in front of my classmates. My
heart was crushing when my classmates laughed me because I gave a wrong answer. But
actually, those pains could help me to stand from fall, to learn from wrong and to gain from
nothing. Self-determination is the key to develop myself. Through studying and practicing, I
enhanced my confidence as well as my knowledge. That is the reason why I believe that
education is the most powerful weapon that we can use to change the world. Until now, I
am in the process to develop my skills, abilities and knowledge for me to use as a sword in
the nearest battle of life.
My portfolio will show you the best and worst output in my college career. I actually
chose my test paper as an evidence of my learning progression however, my reflection will
give you an idea of why I chose this item and how I got that kind of grades. I know, the
grade of my best output here is not actually the best output of others . I do not belong to the
intelligent student in our class that is why, I highly appreciated this best output. I burnt the
midnight oil so many times for me to get this kind of grade that’s why I’m proud to attach it
on my portfolio.

3. Why did I choose this item?
For me, it is the best item I ever had. I know to myself that I am deserving for this
kind of grade. Let me tell you how I got this grade. Simply, before the exam, I studied for
almost 2 days and almost all the lessons and class discussions had been retained to my
mind but I could say not 100% retention. Mr. Nilo Berjuega was our professor in this
subject last semester. He was a very good professor actually. I absorbed the 80% percent of
his lesson and I learned a lot from him.
Curriculum development was the subject that he had taught to us. As a future
teacher, it is very important to me to become aware of how the curriculumdevelopedandwhy
curriculumstill developeduntil now. Ihave learnedthatThe term curriculumreferstothe lessonsand
academiccontenttaughtin a school or ina specificcourse orprogram.It isalso referstothe knowledge
and skillsstudentsare expectedtolearn,whichincludesthe learningstandards orlearning
objectives theyare expectedtomeet;the unitsandlessonsthatteachersteach;the assignmentsand
projectsgiventostudents;the books,materials,videos,presentations,andreadingsusedinacourse;
and the tests, assessments,andothermethodsusedtoevaluate studentlearning. Because of him,my

4. From this output, I have learned that being too confident about an upcoming
examination is not right. That was based on my experience. I may not be satisfied with the
result I’ve got but at least I am certain that I have done my very best to understand the test
questions and provide answers for each at my hardest.
I chose this item because it taught me a lesson and from it, I realized my mistakes. If
I will be given the chance to improve it, I will make sure that I will spend more time
reviewing the lesson. I will focus on the topics where I lack of understanding.
