This document outlines the creative choices for a thriller film, including:
1) Using normal 21st century clothing for costumes to make the film more realistic.
2) Filming in an unusual location to build dramatic tension easily and for free.
3) Varying the lighting from bright to dark to set the tone and tension as the film progresses.
4) Employing different camera angles like long shots, close ups, and overhead shots to show action from multiple perspectives.
5) Creating an original musical score that increases in pace and tension over time to further the story.
6) Using bold, red typography in the title sequence that appears slowly for dramatic effect.
2. The Person that I will be working with will be
We will be sharing out the work load together Oliver
3. The costumes that the cast will wear will be normal 21st
centaury clothes.
The reason why the cast will have costumes like this is
because the thriller is set in 21st centaury and make it
more realistic for the audience.
Makes more sense if the cast wear something that is
relatable to the time of when the movie opening is going
to be set.
4. The reason why we will film here is because this is an
easy area for filming to take place also.
It is a good area to build up dramatic tension in the
sense that it is an unusual place for a thriller to take
place.
Also it is a easy place to film, because you do not have
to pay for anything it is free and easily accessible.
5. The lighting that I would use for my opening would vary. At first when
there is no tension the lighting will be bright at first and then be
normal. But, when tension builds, the lighting will become darker
almost to the extent that it is black and grey.
Reason why I would use lighting like this is because the change in
lighting will set the tone of the movie and create different sorts of
tension. The effect that this will have on the audience is that it will
grip them and make them question why this is happening.
The procurative code will be evident as well because the use of
lighting will suggest further action will take place because of the
connotation of light turning to darkness.
6. The camera angles that I will be using will be using mostly are;
Longshot – so that audience can see everything taking place
Extreme close up – so audience can see in detail what happening
and facial expression pf characters.
Birds Eye- So that the audience will be able to see everything from
a different perspective.
Worm eye shot- To make certain characters or objects seem bigger
in stature.
Over the shoulder shot- So the audience can see what is happening
from the character's perspective
High angle shot- So that again the audience can see what is
happening from another perspective.
7. The music that I intended to use will be created on either
garage band or any other music software.
The characteristics of the music will be that be that it will
have the same fast beat but with low tone that will
increase in pace and speed.
The effect that this will create is that it will build up
tension slowly and also suggest further action will take
place (Procurative code).
8. The typography that will be evident during
the title sequence will be:
Bold- So that it stand out to the audience.
The colour red – To connote danger or
action
Also it will appear in slow to give it a more
dramatic effect towards the audience.
