▪ “Just Lose It” preformed by Eminem is both a narrative and
performative music video.The main aim of the music video is to
promote Eminem as an artist.This is done via the use of star
iconography.Throughout the music video there are a lot close up on
the artist face this is to highlight who he is and gain publicity.The
lighting in the music video bright and fast paced in terms of it
changing.This to a certain degree represent Eminem as an artist as
being controversial and different.
4. Real Slim Shady
▪ In 2000 Eminem released the song “Real Slim Shady”. At this time Eminem was
an established artist. During this time it was perceived that Eminem was just
anotherVanilla Ice. As a result of this the music video for “Real Slim Shady” was
both performative and narrative to show clearly how he felt about people
comparing him to other white rappers.The use of other actors who look
Eminem being in the music video gave it an ironic feel and showed even more
clearly that he didn’t care what people thought.

Eminem's private life and his most interment moments.Throughout the
music video there is on beat editing.The majority of the lighting in the music
video is natural.This further enhance the emotiveness of the music video.
The music video is both narrative and also performative.
6. Just Lose It
Just Lose (released 2004) is a performative and narrative music video
by Eminem. At this stage in Eminem he was widely acclaimed as the
best rapper ever. But in this particular music video, it considered he
went over the line.
The main aim of this music video was to promote Eminem as a
performer as being controversial.Whilst promoting his music as a
brand as being opinioned but relatable.
7. Not Afraid
▪ Not Afraid released in 2010 is a performative video that elaborates on
the hard times that Eminem has had in his life. It can be argued that
the video is a veracious song and music video in the sense that we are
seeing the things that we are not supposed to see through Eminem's
mind. At this point in his career Eminem had one nine Grammys and
was just about to win his 10th and 11th.This music video to a certain
degree portrayed a more sensible artist that grown up and recovered
from his problems. Hence the reason why the Album that the song
features on is called recovery.
