2. + Mise-en-scene:
 Firstly, in the opening sequence we are
introduced with the credits, which are presented
to us in red, as shown on the left. The colour red
can symbolise a sense of danger and the fact the
credits fade in and out can anticipate a ghostly
sensation.
 The whole opening sequence is very low-key
lighting, which creates shadows and the fact the
whole opening sequence is very dark and
immoral can create the audience to feel a sense
of the unknown.
 The costume of the supernatural, demon is very,
dead bridal looking which makes her look even
more ghostly. Also, her costume is black and the
colour black is commonly used in horrors as
black is a mysterious color associated with fear
and the unknown.

3. + Camerawork:
 A use of a birds eye view is used to allow the audience to view more of the
location and the setting of the house. The use of chiaroscuro lighting creates
shadows, which makes the house look a lot more dark and spooky.
 Furthermore, the use of the close up to the demons face, creates more suspense
as her face looks even more creepy and as a result can lead the audience to feel
spine-chilled and on the edge of their seat.
 The camera stays really close to the corners of the doors which may make the
audience feel more involved as they will be wondering if anything will jump out at
them which can create a fearful effect. The camera staying close to the corners of
the doors can also been seen as a full track, taking us around the different rooms
in the house to also allow us to feel involved with what’s about to occur.

4. + Sound:
 During the opening sequence, there are many
shadows portrayed and to illustrate the suspense,
high pitched violins are used in the background. This
music may be shocking to some viewers, as it came
out of silence, which gives it more of an immortal
atmosphere.
 When the title appear, in the opening sequence, there
is the use of screams to introduce it. Before this,
there was just silence which can create more tension
and foreshadow, up coming events as through out a
horror, screams are stereotypically the main source of
sound.
 Sudden use of sting sounds are used when shadows
appear, in the track around the house, the can create
a ‘jumpy’ effect for the audience and make them feel
shocked. Afterwards, the sting fades out which can
link to the credits as they fade out after each name.
This can show that they are connected and that, the
sting maybe very important throughout the film.

5. + Editing:
 Cross-cutting is used when the different rooms
in the house are shown, this can make the
audience feel more connected with what’s going
on. as we feel like the camera is taking us
around the house and giving us a tour.
 The fade out used in the credits, is more of a
smoke out effect. This can make the credits look
more interesting and allow the audience to feel
more intrigued.
 A long take is used through out parts of the
opening sequence which can create suspense
and anticipation. In this case, it allows creates a
contrast effect as normally a long take if used to
slow the paste down but in this opening
sequence, a long take is used to speed things
up and create a more rapid paste.
