The document proposes a music video pitch for the song "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" by Good Charlotte. It will depict stereotypical rich and famous female characters struggling as they try to live the life of everyday people. The video will show each character individually encountering humble problems outside of their comfort zone, such as getting dirty on the street or burning food while cooking. It aims to illustrate the lyrics about how celebrities might fail to survive living like common people.

Music Video Pitch
1. My music video
pitch
‘Lifestyles of the rich and
famous’
Raechelle Jackson
2. Song
• ‘Lifestyles of the rich and famous’ by Good
Charlotte
• I chose this as the lyrics caught my eye and,
after studying my questionnaire, I could create a
narrative from the lyrics whilst in some parts still
referring to ‘random visual elements’
• The original video can be found here;

3. Background
• Good Charlotte can be described as pop
crossed with rock
• This was the band’s first official single
• It features typical musical instruments
and vocals of that of a pop/rock band
• It refers to celebrities and explains how
they always complain and the lyrics
describe how the band would like to see
them ‘walking in someone else’s shoes’
4. Lyrics
My idea for the music video is taken from the main bridge of
the song…
‘I’d like to see them spend a week living life out on the
street, I don’t think they would survive. If they could spend
a day or two walking in someone else’s shoes I think they’d
stumble and they’d fall.’
From this I could bring in the idea of a group of characters
that are stereotypically ‘rich and famous’ and use them as
my main piece. I could show them in their cliché
surroundings and what they’d do. I could then bring in the
element of ‘walking in someone else’s shoes’ and them
struggling to do so.
5. Lyrics
As I am using female characters I satisfy the idea of the
target population being largely female and therefore will
relate to it or enjoy watching others. It is also in context
with the age range. I am not including a live performance as
this may look slightly out of place [considering the idea that
the cast are female] and also won’t fit in well with the
narrative.
This allows me to look into the idea of split screen between
the two different characters and will encourage me to look
into the details of how to use camera angles to show a
certain stereotype.
6. Lyrics
I can use four main female characters and film a group shot
of them ‘socialising’ and then video each person in single
locations having trouble fitting in with their surroundings. An
example may be walking down a backstreet [where they
would not normally be seen] and stepping in chewing gum
with a disgusted face. This may add a comedic element and
also highlights the idea that ‘they would fall’ in that
surrounding.
7. Characters/Location
• ‘Gardener’. Watering the plants and hoses themselves
with water
Outside in a garden
• Walking a dog or down the road and treading in gum/dog
poo
Outside/in a park or street
