Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

2. 1950s music video
A music video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or
artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device
intended to promote the sale of music recordings.
3. Theearly1950
Continuation of 40s “feel good” music featuring light melodies, sweet lyrics, and wholesome
singers.
Adults are listening to Pat Boone, Perry Como, Doris Day,Tony Bennett, Patti Page, and Nat King
Cole.
4. The 1950s marked the birth of rock’n’roll. From big band tracks to jazz standards, until midway through the 20th
century, music was a resolutely parent-friendly zone. But then everything changed. Elvis had flustered teenagers all
shook up, while the likes of Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and the like were destroying the old safety nets with a virile,
passionate new sound. Here are the top 100 tracks from the decade that that sparked a musical revolution.Words by

5. 1950sfashion
The blouse was fashionable during the 1950s,
worn with skirts or pants. Many blouses were
sleeveless or had very short sleeves. By the
late 1950s, the long, slim look had returned.
Long skirts or dresses were popular, often
worn with short jackets.
6. In North America and Europe the decade was particularly revolutionary in terms of popular music, as it saw the
evolution of rock. At the beginning of the 1960s, pop and rock and roll trends of the 1950s continued; nevertheless, the
rock and roll of the decade before started to merge into a more international, eclectic variant known as rock. In the
early-1960s, rock and roll in its purest form was gradually overtaken by pop rock, beat, psychedelic rock, blues rock,
and folk rock, which had grown in popularity. The country- and folk-influenced style[1] associated with the latter-half of
1960s rock music spawned a generation of popular singer-songwriters who wrote and performed their own work.
1960s music
7. The 1960's were a time of upheaval in society, fashion, attitudes and especially music. Before 1963,
the music of the sixties still reflected the sound, style and beliefs of the previous decade and many of
the hit records were by artists who had found mainstream success in the 1950s, like Elvis Presley, Ray
Charles, Dion, andThe Everly Brothers. In 1963 and the years to follow, a number of social influences
changed what popular music was and gave birth to the diversity that we experience with music
today.
8. Fashion 1960s
The 1960s were an age of fashion innovation for women. The early 1960s gave birth to drainpipe jeans and
capri pants, which were worn by Audrey Hepburn. Casual dress became more unisex and often consisted of
plaid button down shirts worn with slim blue jeans, comfortable slacks, or skirts.
Mary Quant popularised the mini skirt, and Jackie Kennedy introduced
the pillbox hat;[1] both became extremely popular. False eyelashes were
worn by women throughout the 1960s. Hairstyles were a variety of lengths
and styles.[2] Psychedelic prints, neon colors, and mismatched patterns were
in style.[3] In the late 1960s,The hippie movement also exerted a strong
influence on women's clothing styles, including bell-bottom jeans, tie-
dye and batikfabrics, as well as paisley prints.
9. 1970s music
In North America, Europe, and Oceania, the decade saw the rise of disco, which became one of the biggest genres of
the decade, especially in the mid-to-late 1970s.[1] In Europe, a variant known as Euro disco[1] rose in popularity towards
the end of the 1970s. Aside from disco, funk, smooth jazz, jazz fusion, and soul remained popular throughout the
decade. It is this influx of popular music that soon transformed into rock and roll during the Early 1970s. Rock
music played an important part in theWestern musical scene, with punk rock thriving throughout the mid to late
1970s.[2] Other subgenres of rock, particularly glam rock, hard rock, progressive, art rock and heavy metal achieved
various amounts of success.
