The document summarizes research into modifying the core of boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) dyes with different substituted phenyl groups to optimize their properties for use in dye-sensitized solar cells. Various BODIPY cores with nitro, unsubstituted, anisole and trimethoxy phenyl substituents were synthesized and their electrochemical and optical properties were characterized using cyclic voltammetry, NMR spectroscopy, and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy. The anisole phenyl substituted BODIPY showed the highest molar absorptivity, making it a promising candidate for further optimization as an organic dye in dye-sensitized solar cells.
