The document provides information about a seminar given by a medical herbalist on multiple sclerosis (MS). It discusses the herbalist's background and training. It then covers causes of MS including genetic factors and viral/bacterial infections. Environmental factors like the Western diet are also discussed. The herbalist explains how MS affects the body and nervous system. Conventional treatment approaches are outlined along with their limitations. The herbalist's holistic approach to treating the underlying causes of MS through diet, lifestyle, and herbal medicine is then described.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) and Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS...Crimsonpublisherscojnh
Multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) and electromagnetic hypersensitivity are disabling conditions hallmarked by adverse reactions to chemicals and electromagnetic frequencies at levels generally considered safe. MCS is underpinned by a vicious cycle of escalating sensitivity initiated by exposure to seven classes of neurotoxicants. Our case study concerns a family sensitized to foods, chemicals and electromagnetic radiation after heavy exposure to phenoxy herbicides and organophosphate pesticides. Also addressed are a number of conditions frequently co-morbid with MCS, which also frequently involve an environmental sensitivity component-which include migraine, rheumatoid arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, ADHD, hypertension and certain cardiac problems.
Multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) and electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS) are disabling medical conditions with ramifications for not only affected individuals and their families but for wider society as well. Sensitised individuals react adversely to everyday chemicals and/or electromagnetic frequencies at levels customarily considered innocuous; indeed, their reactive threshold may be orders of magnitude below the norm. In one instance the difference in electromagnetic sensitivity was estimated at 1010 [15]. This woman also reacted to minute traces of lemon oils picked up by a family member; he had merely been in a room with a bowl of lemons, yet hyperosmia-a hallmark of MCS-allowed her to detect their presence, and hypersensitivity to react to it

Rheumatic Manifestations in Diabetes Mellitus PatientsApollo Hospitals
Rheumatic manifestations of DM are the commonest of all
described endocrine rheumatic manifestations. These manifestations have generally been under-recognized and poorly treated, compared to the other complications, such as neuropathy, nephropathy and retinopathy. These manifestations, involve not only the joints, but also the soft tissues and the bones. In 2004, the National Health Interview Survey in US determined that 58%of diabetic patients will develop functional disability. The percentage of diabetic patients with functional disability will increase as the number of diabetic patients increases.Recent data reveals that the prevalence of rheumatic manifestations in the hands and shoulders in patientswith type 1 or type 2 diabetes is 30%.3These manifestations are closely
linked to age,4 prolonged disease duration,5,6 and vascular
complications like retinopathy.7

The fundamental treatment and management goals in diabetes mellitus are to control and normalize blood glucose levels and to prevent diabetic complications. It also includes maintaining normal growth and development and normal body weight. Proper diet, regular exercise, weight control and different therapeutic agents are the mainstays of diabetic care and management. Weight reduction and exercise have been shown to improve tissue sensitivity to insulin and allow its proper use by target tissues. It is obvious that medical management and goals of therapy for diabetes mellitus have changed since the publication of the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial in 1993. Recent studies have shown that the risk of developing retinopathy can decrease by 76% in properly managed diabetic patients when compared to control group and that clinical and laboratory signs and symptoms of nephropathy and neuropathy can also decrease by 54 to 60%. Modern approaches to the management of diabetes mellitus embrace holistic options and this book addressed various approaches in the management of diabetes mellitus.
Fibromyalgia can be resolved by medical herbalismmorwenna2
A recent public awareness survey by the National Fibromyalgia Association illustrates a significant lack of understanding about Fibromyalgia: nearly half of the general public (45%) has never heard of Fibromyalgia, many people who are knowledgeable about the disorder incorrectly believe that nothing can be done to manage it, and nearly half (48%) of all healthcare providers are reluctant to diagnose a patient with the condition (National Fibromyalgia Association, 2007).

Lung Cancer: Artificial Intelligence, Synergetics, Complex System Analysis, S...Oleg Kshivets
RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.
